General Job Description Position Overview IES Residential, Inc. is seeking a detail-oriented and proactive In-House Contracts Paralegal to support our Legal Department and internal teams in Sugar Land, TX. In this role, you will serve as a key coordinator between our Legal Department, Division Managers, Accounting, Executives, and other departments to ensure contract processes are handled efficiently and deadlines are met. The ideal candidate is a self-starter who is highly organized, detail-oriented, and able to prioritize tasks while working independently. Responsibilities Assist with reviewing and editing agreements and contract documents. Identify legal processing issues and elevate them to appropriate internal and external parties when necessary. Create, organize, and update files; scan, mail, and maintain document records to ensure contracts are properly filed and processed. Communicate with Division Managers and contracting parties via telephone, email, and mail as needed. Update files with documents, notes, and communications in accordance with company standards. Track key dates, deadlines, and contractual obligations to ensure compliance and timely completion. Support the Legal Department and other teams with administrative and coordination tasks. Perform other duties as assigned. Minimum Education None Minimum Years of Experience 0-2 Specific Qualifications Required Skills and Abilities Excellent attention to detail and accuracy in document review, drafting, and data management. Ability to synthesize complex information into clear, concise summaries. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment. Ability to identify issues requiring escalation and exercise sound judgment. Strong organizational and document management skills. Able to work both independently and collaboratively as part of a team. Proficient in Adobe Acrobat. Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite and job-specific software and programs. Ability to pass pre-employment screenings such as background and motor vehicle record checks. English speaking, reading, and writing preferred, and required where necessary to perform job duties. Maintain professionalism and a positive, respectful demeanor with customers, coworkers, and business partners. Education/Experience Experience in contract administration, legal support, construction administration, procurement support, or a related role preferred. Experience in a construction, engineering, real estate development, or similar project-based environment preferred. Experience supporting a legal department, contracts team, or corporate compliance function preferred. Equivalent combination of education, training, and relevant experience may be considered. High school diploma or GED required; associate’s degree in business administration, legal studies, paralegal studies, construction administration, or a related field required; bachelor’s degree preferred. Relevant industry certifications or licenses preferred, and required where necessary to perform job duties. Physical Requirements Work in a typical office environment, sitting at a desk and performing prolonged computer work, with occasional standing, walking, bending, and reaching. Maintain dependable transportation and consistent, reliable attendance to meet customer service and operational needs. Ability to exercise sound judgment and make independent decisions within established company policies and procedures. Ability to work overtime, modified schedules, or occasional weekends as business needs require. Communicate in person, by phone, and electronically, including on a tablet, smartphone, and other office technology. Travel as required to support project and operational needs. Perform all work on-site and in person; this is not a remote or hybrid position. Lift, carry, push, and pull at least 25 pounds.
