Used Car Sales Manager

As the Used Car Manager at Keffer Volkswagen, you will be responsible for driving the profitability, growth, and operational excellence of one of the dealership's most important departments. This leadership role oversees every aspect of the used vehicle operation, including inventory acquisition, pricing strategy, merchandising, reconditioning, sales performance, and team development. Working directly with the Managing Partner and executive leadership team, you will play a critical role in building North Charlotte's premier used vehicle destination by maximizing inventory turn, market competitiveness, and customer satisfaction. Key Responsibilities Source and acquire quality pre-owned inventory through auctions, trades, direct purchases, service drive opportunities, and private-party acquisitions. Manage inventory levels to ensure the right mix of vehicles while maintaining target days' supply and inventory turn. Utilize market data and pricing tools (vAuto, AutoTrader, CarGurus, etc.) to price inventory competitively while maximizing gross profit. Oversee the entire reconditioning process to ensure vehicles are frontline-ready quickly and meet Keffer Volkswagen quality standards. Partner with the Sales and F&I teams to maximize profitability, volume, and customer experience. Monitor daily sales performance, gross profit, inventory aging, acquisition goals, and departmental KPIs. Develop and coach sales professionals to improve product knowledge, closing skills, and customer satisfaction. Create innovative acquisition strategies to increase trade-ins and direct purchases from the community. Ensure all inventory is professionally merchandised with high-quality photography, descriptions, and digital presentation. Maintain compliance with all dealership policies, manufacturer requirements, and state regulations. Qualifications 5+ years of automotive management experience with a proven track record in used vehicle operations. Strong understanding of inventory management, appraisal techniques, market-based pricing, and vehicle acquisition. Experience with vAuto, inventory management systems, CRM platforms, and dealership DMS software. Demonstrated success improving inventory turn, gross profit, and departmental performance. Exceptional leadership, communication, and team development skills. Data-driven decision maker with strong financial acumen. Preferred Experience Volkswagen or import dealership experience is a plus. Proven experience purchasing vehicles through multiple acquisition channels. Strong understanding of digital merchandising and online retail strategies.
