Talent Acquisition Specialist / Recruiter (Heavy Equipment Industry)

ROMCO Equipment Co. is growing, and we’re looking for a Talent Acquisition Specialist / Recruiter who knows how to hire in the heavy equipment industry. If you’ve recruited diesel technicians, field service techs, parts specialists, or shop roles, you already understand how critical this position is to operational success. What You'll Do: Recruiting Strategy & Workforce Planning Develop and execute recruiting strategies specifically for diesel technicians and skilled trade roles. Act as the subject matter expert on technician recruiting, labor market trends, and competitive compensation. Lead or contribute to company‑wide recruiting projects and process improvements, such as ATS optimization, onboarding enhancements, and candidate experience initiatives. Provide data‑driven insights to guide and influence hiring decisions and workforce planning. Partner with HR and marketing on targeted recruitment campaigns and technician outreach initiatives. Lead full‑cycle recruiting for technician, parts, service, and field roles across multiple branches. Collaborate with hiring managers to define job requirements and selection criteria. Source candidates through job boards, social media, referrals, networking, and direct outreach. Maintain active pipelines for high‑demand roles and ensure timely communication with candidates. Manage applicant flow and documentation through Workday and related systems. School & Industry Partnerships Build and maintain relationships with diesel technology and trade schools across Texas and New Mexico. Coordinate and attend job fairs, career days, and industry events to promote ROMCO and attract entry‑level talent. Support development of recruiting materials and technician career path messaging. Candidate, Experience & Employer Branding Promote ROMCO as an employer of choice through social media, community involvement, and referral initiatives. Ensure a positive, timely, and professional experience for all candidates. Partner with operations and marketing to enhance brand visibility and engagement. Analytics, Compliance & Administration Track and analyze recruiting metrics such as time‑to‑fill, source effectiveness, and candidate quality. Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and company policies. Support HR projects and process improvements as needed. Who Thrives in This Role You’ll be successful here if you: Have 3+ years of recruiting experience in heavy equipment, construction, trucking, manufacturing, or skilled trades. Have recruited diesel technicians or technical roles and understand the labor market. Enjoy partnering with branch leaders, service managers, and shop teams. Are proactive, resourceful, and comfortable owning your recruiting strategy. Like being in the field — visiting branches, shops, and trade schools. Can manage multiple priorities across several locations. Qualifications Required: 3+ years of recruiting experience in heavy equipment, construction, trucking, manufacturing, or skilled trades. Proven experience recruiting diesel technicians or similar technical roles. Knowledge of recruiting best practices, sourcing techniques, and employment laws Strong communication and relationship‑building skills. Proficiency with applicant tracking systems (Workday preferred) and Microsoft Office. Ability to travel up to 25%. Preferred: Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business, or related field (or equivalent experience). Experience building partnerships with trade schools or technical programs. Experience supporting multi‑branch or field‑based operations. Physical & Work Environment Requirements Regularly required to talk, hear, stand, walk, and use hands. Occasionally required to sit, climb, kneel, or lift up to 25 lbs. Office environment with occasional exposure to shop or field conditions.
