Medical-Surgical RN in Gastonia, NC

Deliver patient-centered care within a fast-paced, collaborative environment specializing in Medical-Surgical and Telemetry nursing. Work alongside a committed team focused on decompressing the Emergency Department and supporting a variety of adult and geriatric cases, including cardiac and trauma diagnoses. The contract offers exposure to advanced technology and a caring departmental culture, where teamwork and professional development are prioritized.


Schedule:

• 12-hour shifts: 7a-7p or 7p-7a
• Weekend rotation: every other
• No on-call requirement
• Expectation to work 75% of holidays
• Schedule set every 6 weeks

Qualifications:

• Current RN licensure required
• BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications
• Minimum 2 years of Med/Surg & Telemetry RN experience strongly preferred
• Stroke care, cardiac rhythm interpretation, and trach care experience
• Proficiency with PIV starts, chest tube management, NGT placement, drain/tube management (Dobhoff, PEG, Hemovac, JP drains), as well as PCA pumps and cardiac drip management (including Heparin, blood products, and IV fluids)
• Prior Epic EMR experience preferred

Key Responsibilities:

• Deliver comprehensive, compassionate care for a diverse patient population with a range of complex conditions (COPD, CHF, trauma, infection, etc.)
• Monitor and interpret telemetry, documenting findings as primary nurse each shift
• Float as needed within the regional health system, providing care across multiple units and facilities, always within your scope of practice
• Collaborate closely with CNAs, resource nurses, secretaries, and 24/7 on-site hospitalists, phlebotomy, and IV/VAT teams
• Contribute to a supportive unit environment known for welcoming new nurses and fostering professional growth
