Medical-Surgical Nurse (RN) | Gastonia, North Carolina

This contract assignment offers the opportunity to collaborate with a multidisciplinary team, care for diverse patient populations, and utilize state-of-the-art technology in a facility recognized for its stroke and chest pain care.


Schedule/Hours:

• Weekend rotation required (every other weekend)
• No on-call obligations
• Holiday coverage expected (work 75% of hospital holidays)
• Flexible scheduling cycle every 6 weeks
• Up to 6 days of requested time off available (not including holidays; time off must be accommodated at contract end if needed)

Qualifications:

• Active Registered Nurse license
• Minimum 18 months of recent Med/Surg/Telemetry RN experience (Resource Team)
• BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required
• Proficiency in general Med/Tele skills: stroke care, cardiac rhythm interpretation, tracheostomy care, PIV starts, chest tube management, NGT placement, various drain/tube management (Dobhoff, PEG, Hemovac, JP, flexiseals, Foley), and PCA pumps
• Experience administering medication drips, cardiac drips, Heparin, blood products, and IVF
• Stroke care experience required
• Resourceful, adaptable, and comfortable floating across multiple units and facilities within the designated region

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide high-quality patient care to individuals with diagnoses such as end stage renal disease, heart conditions, sickle cell, diabetes, complex wounds, behavioral health needs, and more
• Manage patient loads per ratios: typically 1:5-6, surge 1:7-8
• Collaborate with CNAs, charge nurses, phlebotomy, IV/VAT teams, respiratory therapists, and hospitalists
• Maintain accurate documentation in Epic EMR and use Alaris IV pumps and Omnicell medication dispensing
• Wear navy scrubs and enjoy free on-site parking
• Participate in comprehensive orientation including NEO and 2-day departmental training
