Director of Accounting

The Director of Accounting plays a key leadership role in aligning financial policies, procedures, and systems with the organization’s strategic goals. This position is responsible for the oversight of all fiscal operations in compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and Generally Accepted Auditing Standards (GAAS), and for managing the Accounting Office team and related administrative functions.Essential Functions:Prepare accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with nonprofit accounting standardsLead and supervise the accounting team, providing support and directionUtilize accounting systems and software to manage financial data and reportingDemonstrate exceptional communication, interpersonal, and critical thinking skillsAttend work on-site full-time and travel to designated locations as neededKey Responsibilities:Align financial policies and procedures with organizational objectivesDevelop and maintain robust financial reporting systems to ensure compliance and transparencyAnalyze budgets and provide regular financial reviews for leadershipEnsure all funding reports and submissions are accurate and submitted on timeReview accounting systems and activities for compliance with applicable laws and regulationsManage cash flow and maintain financial liquidityMonitor and verify expenditures and ensure timely tax payments and filingsOversee financial audits and ensure readiness and accuracyReconcile payroll bank accounts and manage petty cashPresent financial reports to the Board of Directors at regular meetingsProvide strategic financial guidance to support organizational decision-makingPerform any necessary accounting office functions and other duties as assignedBachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance requiredMinimum of five (5) years of accounting experience, preferably in a nonprofit settingProven experience in financial statement preparation, payroll, bookkeeping, cash flow management, tax compliance, and budgetingProficiency in accounting software and Microsoft ExcelExperience with Dynamics 365 Business Central and Paycom preferredPerks & Benefits:Guaranteed full-time pay with competitive salaryComprehensive medical, dental, and vision benefits with low costs and deductiblesShort-term and long-term disability insuranceGenerous paid time off – 20 days annually14 paid holidays (including your birthday!)403(b) retirement planEmployee referral bonus opportunitiesAbout Us:Americas’ Community Counsel (ACC) is an equal opportunity employer.
