Civil Rights Investigator

Job Title Civil Rights Investigator Overview The University of Nevada, Reno is recruiting a Civil Rights Investigator to assist the Director, Center for Civil Rights & Equal Access in complaint resolution. The investigator will meet with students and employees to investigate allegations of discrimination, retaliation, sexual harassment, and other violations under federal and state civil rights laws. The role involves researching relevant regulations and policies, producing written reports, maintaining a case database, and offering prevention workshops. Key Responsibilities Assist the Provost, Vice Provost, and the Director by facilitating and overseeing the complaint resolution process. Receive and investigate complaints of discrimination based on protected class status and/or sexual harassment, including related allegations in violation of federal and state laws or university policies. Handle a limited assignment of allegations of sexual violence, sexual assault, dating and domestic violence, and stalking. Meet with students, employees, and community members to gather information regarding open investigations. Identify and interview complainants, respondents, witnesses, and other parties as they pertain to the investigation. Research civil rights laws, regulations, policies, and procedures, and consult with the Director before providing information. Monitor TitleVI, TitleVII, and TitleIX programs and data sources to ensure compliance and develop and maintain data processes. Required Qualifications One of the following: a Bachelor’s Degree and two years of related work experience, or a Master’s Degree or J.D. and one year of related work experience. Experience in human resources, human relations, student conduct, or a related field working with diverse populations. Experience with federal and state laws and regulations related to TitleIX, TitleVII, TitleVI, and VAWA. Report‑writing and public‑speaking experience. Compensation and Benefits Salary: Administrative Faculty – GradeB (competitive and commensurate with education and experience).
