Medical Surgical Unit - Travel Registered Nurse

Shift: 7:00 AM - 7:00 PM

Experience:

• 24 months of experience with 3 months worked in the last 12 months.

• 12 months of Medical Surgical Unit experience with 12 months worked in the last 3 years.

• Experience with Epic is required.

Requirements:

• Candidates must have a West Virginia license or compact license (required after submission).

• This role may require floating to additional units and locations

• Travel only, local not allowed. Candidates must live >50 miles from facility to be submitted.

• COVID vaccination required after submission. Religious and medical declinations accepted.

• 24 months gap required between for Staff at Program: Medical Solutions Plus Program - WVU Medicine and no current placement allowed at Program: Medical Solutions Plus Program - WVU Medicine.

• 24 months gap required between for Travel at Program: Medical Solutions Plus Program - WVU Medicine and no current placement allowed at Program: Medical Solutions Plus Program - WVU Medicine.

Additional Details:

Artificial nails are not allowed for any travelers. Failure to adhere could result in being sent home and/or terminated if policy is not followed.

If candidate worked a perm facility in the last 12 months, 1 reference must be from that perm facility.

Eligibility as current/previous employee: cumulative experience applies for previous travelers.

At least one reference must be from the same unit/specialty as the job you are applying to.

Unit Details: Nurse-to-patient ratios: 1:5-7 on days, 1:6-8 on nights. Common patient diagnoses include pneumonia, UTI, AMS, GI bleed, alcohol withdrawal, and falls/weakness. RNs titrate heparin, bumex, and lasix drips; no cardiac drip titration. Charge nurses may take patient assignments depending on staffing. PCT support averages 1:10-12 and may be higher. RT administers breathing treatments, inhalers, ABGs, and manages BiPAP, CPAP, and high flow O2; RNs are typically expected to monitor only. Monitor tech reads and monitors telemetry; nurses are not expected to read and interpret telemetry.

Shift & Scheduling: No self-scheduling. Travelers are expected to be flexible and help fill gaps in the permanent schedule. Every other weekend. May be asked to participate in the holiday rotation. No call.

Floating Requirements: Floating and shift pull rotation. May be floated to any other MS, MS-Tele, or IMC for lower-acuity patients on the floor.

7 days maximum time off

1 Charge/Lead reference required from within the last 2 years

1 Manager/Supervisor reference required from within the last 12 months
