Data Scientist - Model Governance

Salary: $78,750 - 131,250 per year Requirements:

• We require a bachelors degree in statistics, applied mathematics, financial mathematics, engineering, operations research, or another highly quantitative discipline.
• We require at least four years of professional analytical experience in financial services, consumer credit, or a related field, including solving complex business and risk challenges with data.
• We look for strong analytical, critical-thinking, and creative problem-solving abilities, with the capacity to interpret information, identify risk, and deliver practical solutions.
• We require excellent written and verbal communication skills for explaining technical and governance matters to stakeholders at different levels inside and outside the organization.
• We require strong project management skills and the ability to independently handle multiple assignments, priorities, documentation requests, and validation work.
• We require advanced programming proficiency in a statistical language such as R.
• We require experience using SQL for extracting, manipulating, segmenting, and analyzing large datasets.
• We require experience building analytical programs with tools such as Python, Hive, Pig, or similar technologies.
• We require the ability to perform statistical analysis on large-scale datasets in server-based or cloud computing environments.
• We require strong Microsoft Office skills for documentation, analysis, presentations, project tracking, and stakeholder communication.
• We would also value a masters degree in a highly quantitative field, along with at least two years of advanced analytical experience in financial services, consumer credit, or a related industry.
• We value familiarity with credit bureau data, consumer credit risk, and credit bureau business practices.
• We value experience with model risk management, model governance, model validation, or regulatory documentation, or the interest and ability to develop expertise in model risk governance and controls.
• We value experience acting as a model governance subject matter expert or providing project leadership across cross-functional stakeholders.
• We value experience in a global organization and with modern big data technologies such as Hadoop, Spark, and cloud platforms.

• We support the development and upkeep of model risk management policies, procedures, standards, and guidance that strengthen our model risk framework.
• We collect, review, organize, and maintain model documentation from model developers to prepare for independent validation.
• We respond to model documentation requests from clients, regulators, and internal auditors while balancing transparency with protection of our intellectual property.
• We work with model developers, Legal, Compliance, and other stakeholders to improve model governance processes and create standardized templates and documentation language.
• We maintain the enterprise model inventory and recommend and implement improvements that enhance accuracy, usability, and governance.
• We develop and manage the annual model validation plan, monitor validation activity, and support timely completion of scheduled validations.
• We create, maintain, and present model risk management training materials for model developers and other key stakeholders.
• We design and write programs for data extraction, segmentation, and statistical analysis of large population datasets using R, Python, SQL, Hive, and Spark in server-based and cloud environments.
• We support credit risk management and business intelligence solutions through consulting engagements and research for our clients.
