Employees are offered development opportunities to help advance their careers and strengthen the pipeline of our future leaders.The Property Accountant is responsible for performing general accounting functions for multi-family properties that are part of the growing GVA portfolio.DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESTransactions:Review daily financial transactions processed at the property level for completeness, accuracy, timeliness, and compliance with all applicable internal and external policiesMaintain orderly accounting records and vendor files Full cycle AP, AR, and GL accountingResearch and respond to vendor inquiriesProcess monthly Resident Utility Billings (RUBS)Post and prepare journal entriesPerform month-end close proceduresReview general ledger entries for coding accuracy as well as completenessComplete monthly bank account and balance sheet account reconciliationsCompliance:Adhere to all standards of operations, policies and procedures, manuals, training materials, memos, and verbal instructionsAssist the controller in assembling information in response to all audit requests and debt covenant compliance inquiriesReporting:Assist the controller in preparing month-end and quarter-end reportsAssist in the preparation and loading of annual budgets and forecastsCommunication:Maintain open communication lines with property management and provide assistance/direction to ensure accurate and timely recording of financial transactionsAbility to speak effectively with property staff and vendorsMust have a team-oriented attitudeAssist with on boarding of new propertiesPerform other duties/projects as assigned by the Controller or OperationsQUALIFICATIONSBachelors degree in Accounting or Finance or minimum 5 years in multi-family property accounting and bookkeeping experienceMinimum of 2 years' experience in a staff accountant or property accountant roleIntermediate to advanced proficiency in Excel and WordOutstanding verbal and written communication skillsAbility to communicate accounting concepts to non-accountantsAble to perform in a deadline-oriented environment without compromising accuracyExceptional organizational, time management and work prioritization skills with the ability to work both independently and within a team environmentExhibit a high level of professionalism and integrityAt GVA we are driven to provide a company culture that promotes teamwork, growth and work/life balance.
