Business Intelligence Specialist
Arcadia Financial Group
Job Description
Job Description
About the Role
Arcadia Financial Group is a growing independent RIA built around a family office model that integrates financial planning, tax strategy, estate planning, and client service. We believe our clients deserve more than good returns — they deserve clarity, discipline, and a firm that understands their full picture.
To deliver that, we need great information. Business intelligence isn't about producing reports.
It's about helping the firm ask better questions, make better decisions, better serve our clients, and help them fearlessly live every day like it's Saturday.
We're looking for someone to help build that capability. Today, information lives across multiple systems. Some reporting is automated. Some still relies on spreadsheets. Some dashboards exist. Others haven't been built yet. We have ambitious ideas around executive dashboards, marketing analytics, operational scorecards, client segmentation, capacity planning, and business intelligence — but we're looking for someone who can help turn those ideas into reality.
Very few firms our size have made business intelligence a strategic priority. We're intentionally investing in this capability because we believe the firms that make the best decisions over the next decade will be the ones that know their business best. You'll have the opportunity to help build that capability from the ground up — not simply inherit someone else's reporting environment. ou'll work directly with our Director of Operations and COO to create the reporting environment that helps leadership understand what's happening across the firm, identify opportunities before they become problems, and make better decisions.
This role has visibility across every department in the firm. You'll partner with Marketing, Financial Planning, Tax, Client Service, Concierge, and Operations to help leadership understand not just how each department is performing — but how they work together. Because this role supports every department in the firm, you'll work in a highly collaborative environment. Priorities are established by the Director of Operations in partnership with the COO, ensuring your time is focused on the initiatives that will have the greatest impact on the business. This allows you to spend less time reacting to the loudest request and more time delivering meaningful improvements across the firm.
This is not an IT role.
It is not a systems administration role.
It is not a report-running position.
It's a role for someone who enjoys helping organizations think more clearly through better information.
This role does not define organizational strategy or determine the firm's key performance indicators — leadership establishes the metrics that define success. This role builds the reporting environment that delivers those insights accurately, consistently, and efficiently. As Arcadia's Business Intelligence capabilities mature, this position has the opportunity to evolve into a more analytical role focused on business insights, trend analysis, forecasting, and strategic decision support.
Who You Are
You enjoy solving business problems with data.
When someone asks you for a report, your first instinct isn't to ask what columns they want — it's to ask what decision they're trying to make. You know that dashboards aren't valuable because they're beautiful. They're valuable because they improve judgment. You're equally comfortable sitting with a department director to understand a business challenge as you are working with an outside consultant on Power BI, SQL, or data architecture. You're naturally curious, but you're also practical. You understand that the best reporting often removes work rather than creates it.
Most importantly, you take ownership. Not ownership of every project or every request — but ownership of helping the firm make better decisions. You know when to educate someone toward self-service, when to build a new analytical solution, and when to challenge whether a report should exist at all.
You think like an operator, not just an analyst. You understand that behind every metric is a business decision, and behind every business decision are real clients, real families, and real outcomes.
Specifically, you:
- Think analytically but communicate simply
- Translate messy business questions into meaningful reporting
- Care deeply about data quality because you know bad data leads to bad decisions
- Look for opportunities to automate repetitive work
- Build systems that reduce dependency instead of creating it
- Enjoy continuous improvement rather than maintaining the status quo
- Are energized by helping an organization become smarter over time
If you've ever looked at a dashboard and thought, "this answers the wrong question," you'll probably enjoy working here.
What You'll Own
Business Intelligence Solutions & Reporting
- Design, develop, maintain, and continuously improve Power BI dashboards and reporting solutions that support operational and executive decision-making
- Translate business requirements into meaningful dashboards, ensuring solutions align with leadership's defined objectives and success metrics
- Monitor data quality across our systems, identify inconsistencies, and work with departments to improve accuracy and completeness
- Maintain reporting documentation, dashboard standards, and report logic to promote consistency and long-term usability
- Identify opportunities to automate recurring reporting and eliminate manual processes
- Continuously evaluate reporting effectiveness and recommend enhancements
Guiding Principle: When someone asks you for a report, your first instinct isn't to ask what columns they want — it's to ask what decision they're trying to make.
Collaboration & Adoption
- Partner with department leaders to understand operational reporting needs and translate those needs into practical solutions
- Train and educate leaders to confidently access, navigate, interpret, and use dashboards within their areas of responsibility
- Develop user guides, documentation, and training resources that support long-term adoption
- Promote consistent use of dashboards in department meetings and leadership discussions
- Serve as the primary internal resource for reporting best practices and business intelligence education
- Foster a culture where leaders increasingly use self-service reporting rather than relying on others for routine information
Guiding Principle: Department leaders remain accountable for their departmental metrics and performance. The Business Intelligence Specialist provides the reporting environment, education, and tools that enable leaders to confidently monitor, understand, and act upon those metrics.
Business Intelligence Operations & Continuous Improvement
- Partner with Arcadia's external Business Intelligence consulting partner — translating requirements, coordinating enhancements, testing solutions, and supporting implementation
- Support data quality initiatives by identifying inconsistencies and partnering with departments to improve reporting integrity
- Collaborate with the Director of Operations to prioritize Business Intelligence initiatives aligned with organizational priorities
- Continuously identify opportunities to improve reporting capabilities, streamline processes, and expand data-driven decision-making
Guiding Principle: Executive Leadership defines the organization's strategy, business objectives, and key performance indicators. The Director of Operations owns the Business Intelligence roadmap and priorities. The external Business Intelligence consulting partner owns technical architecture, integrations, data warehouse, and platform continuity. Department Leaders own the quality of their department's data and validate their own reporting needs. The Business Intelligence Specialist owns execution, the reporting experience, dashboard development, user adoption, and day-to-day enablement of the Business Intelligence function.
What Success Looks Like — First Year
- Leadership relies on live dashboards rather than manually assembled reports
- Department leaders confidently run routine reporting themselves while turning to you for meaningful analysis — not basic exports
- Manual reporting has been significantly reduced through automation
- Data quality has improved because departments understand what matters and why
- Leadership has greater confidence in the firm's metrics because they're consistent, transparent, and trusted
- Most importantly, the leadership team spends less time gathering information and more time making decisions
- Documentation, training, and knowledge transfer ensure continuity of the Business Intelligence function regardless of future staffing changes
- The Business Intelligence platform continues to evolve through collaboration between leadership, the Business Intelligence Specialist, and Arcadia's external consulting partner
What This Role Is Not
- This is not an IT support position
- This is not a systems administrator role
- This is not someone who exports reports on demand and waits for the next ticket
- This is not a passive analyst
At Arcadia, we don't believe dashboards exist to satisfy curiosity or produce prettier reports. We believe they exist to improve judgment. The work you do should help leadership ask better questions, identify opportunities sooner, eliminate unnecessary work, and ultimately create a better experience for the families we serve.
If you're energized by helping an organization think more clearly — not just report more efficiently — you'll thrive here.
Experience & Background
We care more about how you think than where you've worked. The ideal candidate brings:
- 3–5 years of experience in Business Intelligence, reporting, dashboard development, business systems, or data visualization
- Strong Power BI experience with the ability to develop and maintain interactive dashboards
- Working knowledge of SQL and advanced Excel
- Experience gathering business requirements and translating them into reporting solutions
- Strong communication skills with both technical and non-technical audiences
- Experience with CRM platforms preferred (Redtail, Salesforce, Wealthbox, or similar)
- Experience partnering with software vendors or external consulting firms preferred
- Experience training users, developing documentation, and supporting organizational technology adoption
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities across departments
Benefits
We believe in taking care of the people who take care of our clients.
- 80-100% employer-paid health, dental, and vision insurance depending on your plan selection
- Unlimited paid time off (PTO) and flexible scheduling
- Short-term disability, long-term disability, and life insurance — fully covered
- 401(k) retirement plan with 4% company match
- Quarterly clothing allowance
- Professional development and continuing education opportunities
- Collaborative, people-first culture that values innovation and accountability
Arcadia challenges you to fearlessly live every day like it's Saturday.
