Comp: $110k-$120k 5% bonus


A growing organization is seeking a motivated, detail-oriented Senior Accountant with experience in wholesale operations to join its accounting team. This role is ideal for a proactive professional who thrives in a fast-paced environment, takes initiative, and collaborates effectively across functions. The Senior Accountant will play a key role in supporting the month-end close process, maintaining balance sheet integrity, and managing daily general ledger activities across multiple business channels.


This position is based in New York City and follows a hybrid schedule, with a mix of in-office and remote work.


Key Responsibilities

• Execute core accounting functions, including recording, reconciling, and reporting financial transactions.
• Prepare and analyze journal entries such as accruals (discounts, expenses, commissions), allocations, reclasses, and prepaids.
• Oversee general ledger activity to ensure accuracy and completeness.
• Review financial reports and resolve discrepancies or irregularities.
• Support timely completion of monthly, quarterly, and year-end close processes.
• Prepare and maintain balance sheet reconciliations within required deadlines.
• Assist with internal and external audit requests.
• Partner with cross-functional teams (FP&A, IT, AR, AP, Tax, Treasury, Operations) to support process improvements and system enhancements.
• Identify opportunities for process optimization and document accounting procedures and workflows.
• Contribute to special projects and perform ad hoc analysis as needed.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance.
• 3-5 years of relevant accounting experience, preferably including wholesale operations.
• Solid understanding of month-end close and journal entry processes.
• Experience with retail or eCommerce environments is a plus.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a solid accounting foundation.
• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel (e.g., formulas, macros).
• Familiarity with ERP systems such as SAP is a plus.
• Knowledge of GAAP and SOX compliance requirements.
• Ability to generate ad hoc reports and perform financial analysis.
• Effective communication skills and the ability to work in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
