Software Engineer, Full Stack Core Platform

Salary: $108,700 - 181,100 per year Requirements:

• We design and implement well-scoped backend services and shared components using Java and Spring Boot, following established architectural patterns.
• We build and maintain RESTful APIs with clear contracts, consistent error handling, and thorough documentation that domain teams can adopt easily.
• We develop event-driven integrations with Kafka to connect clinical workflows across services such as order changes, lab notifications, and patient data synchronization.
• We create data integration and pipeline components that connect with Databricks for analytics, reporting, and clinical data processing.
• We write production-quality code against Oracle databases using JPA/Hibernate, with attention to query efficiency, transaction handling, and data integrity.
• We contribute to shared core services, libraries, and frameworks used by multiple clinical domain teams.
• We build for reusability by defining consistent API patterns, well-structured event schemas, and clear extension points.
• We partner with domain teams to understand integration needs and adjust platform services to support faster application delivery.
• We follow platform conventions for API versioning, event contracts, data handling, error taxonomy, and security standards.
• We build frontend integration layers, admin interfaces, and enablement screens using React and TypeScript.
• We implement frontend changes needed to validate end-to-end clinical workflows and confirm backend services work correctly across the stack.
• We work within the existing frontend architecture without taking ownership of broader architecture decisions.
• We develop unit, integration, and API-level tests to verify functionality and prevent regressions.
• We participate in peer code reviews and apply established coding, security, and quality standards.
• We create and maintain technical documentation, including Markdown, Mermaid diagrams, and API specifications, so domain teams can self-serve.
• We use Dynatrace to analyze logs, review metrics, and investigate distributed traces to diagnose and resolve production issues with support from senior engineers.
• We implement structured logging, telemetry, and error-handling approaches defined by the platform team.
• We identify and deliver incremental improvements to reliability, performance, and operational visibility within our owned components.
• We take part in sprint planning, backlog refinement, sprint reviews, and retrospectives.
• We deliver committed work predictably, raise risks early, and communicate blockers clearly.
• We adopt approved tools, frameworks, and CI/CD patterns established by platform and architecture teams.

Our Ontada Engineering team builds iKnowMed, a leading oncology EMR platform used by clinicians across the U.S. to support cancer treatment workflows. This is a backend-first full-stack Software Engineer III role with most of the work centered on Java and Spring Boot, plus targeted React and TypeScript efforts for integration and validation. We offer a hybrid work arrangement; candidates in the DFW area may be expected to work on-site at our Las Colinas office at least two days per week, with the rest remote. We provide a competitive Total Rewards package, including base pay, and may also offer bonus or long-term incentive opportunities. The base pay range for this position is $108,700 to $181,100.
