Additionally, surgical techs are trained in aseptic technique and are tasked with cleaning and sterilizing the OR and surgical instruments. Some operating room technicians may even manage the surgical supply inventory and place orders to ensure that surgeons have all the necessary tools and materials. CSTs can choose to specialize in particular case types and can select their clinical setting, as they are readily employable in acute care hospitals and outpatient surgery centers.
