We are looking for an experienced Human Resources Manager to lead essential people operations in Sonoma County, California. This role will oversee core HR programs across recruiting, onboarding, employee relations, compliance, payroll coordination, benefits administration, and performance management. The ideal candidate brings sound judgment, strong knowledge of California employment practices, and the ability to support both employees and leadership with discretion.

Responsibilities:

• Act as the main point of contact with the organization’s employer organization, coordinating support for benefits, payroll, compliance, and employee-related programs.

• Manage HR technology platforms used for recruitment, onboarding, performance reviews, training administration, leave tracking, timekeeping, and related personnel processes.

• Maintain accurate and confidential employee records in accordance with company standards and applicable record-retention regulations.

• Partner with Accounting to review time data, pay updates, deductions, leave balances, and other payroll inputs so payroll is processed correctly and on schedule.

• Lead the end-to-end recruitment process by advertising openings, evaluating candidates, arranging interviews, preparing offers, and guiding pre-employment steps.

• Deliver employee orientation and onboarding programs that introduce employees to workplace policies, benefits, expectations, and organizational culture.

• Administer the performance management cycle, including annual reviews, coaching support, performance improvement efforts, and training for supervisors.

• Oversee required learning and compliance training by assigning courses, tracking completion, maintaining records, and supporting adherence to mandatory workplace requirements.

• Handle leave administration, employee relations matters, investigations, disciplinary actions, separations, workers’ compensation, unemployment claims, and accommodation processes in coordination with leadership and external partners.

• Monitor employment law developments, update HR policies and handbook materials, respond to employee and manager questions, and prepare workforce reports that support planning and decision-making.

• At least 5 years of progressive Human Resources experience, including responsibility for employee relations, compliance, and HR administration.
• Demonstrated experience supporting payroll processes, benefits administration, onboarding, and HR information systems.
• Strong working knowledge of federal, California, and local employment laws, regulations, and workplace compliance requirements.
• Proven ability to manage sensitive employee matters, conduct thorough investigations, and maintain strict confidentiality.
• Experience partnering with managers on performance management, corrective action, and policy interpretation.
• Excellent organizational skills with a high degree of accuracy when handling records, reporting, and payroll-related details.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build trust across all levels of the organization.
