Construction Materials Field SupervisorRequisition Number: 2026-1810-11S&ME is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic experienced leader with a background in Construction Materials Testing as a Field Supervisor to become part of our Construction Services team in Chattanooga, Tennessee. Join S&ME today and help us provide engineering solutions to our clients!As a Construction Materials Field Supervisor, you will oversee a dedicated team of construction materials testing professionals, managing daily operations across multiple project sites. Your role will be pivotal in ensuring project success through top-notch testing services, fostering strong client relationships, and enhancing operational efficiency. You will balance team management with personal project contributions, ensuring quality, safety, and efficiency. Your leadership will be key in client coordination, managing multiple projects concurrently, and upholding the highest safety standards.Your Day-to-Day:Field Supervision & Scheduling: Provide day-to-day supervision of field staff, coordinate schedules with clients and contractors, and assign personnel to support efficient and timely execution of field work.Project Coordination & Oversight: Manage Construction Materials Testing and Special Inspection projects from start to finish, including budgets, schedules, resource planning, and coordination with Service Line Managers and Project Managers to ensure successful delivery.Team Leadership & Development: Supervise and mentor field and office staff, lead training in testing and inspection procedures, support certification achievement, and maintain accurate records of employee qualifications.Safety, Quality & Equipment Management: Lead safety initiatives, conduct regular safety meetings, enforce PPE and safety protocols, and ensure proper equipment availability, maintenance, and calibration while supporting quality assurance efforts.Client Engagement & Business Development: Build strong client relationships, maintain clear communication throughout the project lifecycle, and support business growth through client development, marketing efforts, and proposal preparation.What You Bring:High School diploma or GEDBachelor's degree in Civil, Structural, or Geotechnical engineering or a construction-related field is a plusMinimum of 2 years of experience in construction materials testing/inspecting of soil, concrete, masonry, and/or asphalt, or in a related fieldExperience in a supervisory or management roleActive Construction Materials industry certifications, such as: American Concrete Institute (ACI): Field Testing Grade I; Strength Testing Technician; Laboratory Technician, and/or International Code Council (ICC): Special Inspector (Reinforced Concrete, Masonry, Soils), a plusStrong communication skills (speaking, reading, and writing) using the English languageWorking Conditions and Physical Demands:You are willing and able to perform the physical demands of this position with the use of Company-provided Personal Protective Equipment, such as:Working the majority of the time outdoors in varying weather conditionsWalking over rough, uneven terrain and standing for potentially long periods Routinely lifting and carrying 40-50lbs (field/laboratory samples and equipment)Working outside of normal business hours when necessaryWe Are S&ME:At S&ME, we're committed to your growth, professionally and personally.
