Job Title Advanced Practice Provider (NP/PA) – Inpatient Pain Consults Department University Hospital | Surgical Advanced Practice Providers Scope of Position The Advanced Practice Provider (APP) is responsible for providing health care services to patients within the parameters of a standard care or supervisory agreement with an attending physician member of the Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center. The APP collaborates with physicians and other clinicians to deliver a full scope of patient care, focusing on preventive health and the management of acute, stable chronic conditions. Medical services performed are those authorized and directed by the credentialing body and certifying organization through licensure. Position Summary The APP delivers health care services to patients in collaboration with a licensed physician member of the medical staff. Services include care during acute and chronic phases of illness, patient and family education, counseling, health promotion and prevention, and referral to other providers and community resources when appropriate. Minimum Qualifications – Nurse Practitioner Current certificate of authority to practice as an APRN in the State of Ohio. Graduate of a Nurse Practitioner program that qualifies for the certification examination of a national certifying organization recognized by the Ohio Board of Nursing. Master of Science Degree in Nursing. 0 years of relevant experience required. Acute Care NP preferred. 0-2 years of APP experience preferred. Minimum Qualifications – Physician Assistant Graduate of a PA‑C program that qualifies for the certification examination recognized by the National Certification Commission for Physician Assistants (NCCPA). Eligibility for State of Ohio licensure as a PA‑C. 0 years of relevant experience required. 0-2 years of APP experience preferred. Additional Information The inpatient consult service works with complex pain patients throughout the health system and helps develop pain regimens. This is a highly independent, autonomous role requiring sound decision‑making for patient treatment plans. Five 8‑hour day shifts per week with possible weekend coverage.
