Job Title Advanced Practice Provider (NP/PA) – Endocrinology – The James Department: James | Ambulatory Nurse Practitioner and Physician Assistant Scope of Position The Advanced Practice Provider (APP) is responsible for providing health care services to patients within the parameters of a standard care or supervisory agreement with an attending physician member of The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center. Collaborates with physicians and other clinicians in providing a full scope of patient care. The focus is on preventive health or the management of acute and/or stable chronic conditions. Performs medical services that have been specifically authorized and directed by the credentialing body and the certifying organization through which they hold licensure. Position Summary The APP provides health care services to patients working in collaboration with a licensed physician member of the medical staff. Healthcare services provided include care during acute and chronic phases of illness, education, and counseling of individuals and families, health promotion and prevention, and referral to other healthcare providers and community resources when appropriate. Minimum Qualifications Current certificate of authority to practice as an APRN in the State of Ohio Graduate of a Nurse Practitioner program that qualifies the graduate to sit for the certification examination of a national certifying organization recognized by the Ohio Board of Nursing Master of Science Degree in Nursing 0 years of relevant experience required. 0-2 years of relevant experience preferred. OR Masters Prepared; Graduate of a PA-C program that qualifies the graduate to sit for the certification examination recognized by the National Certification Commission for Physician Assistants (NCCPA). Eligibility for State of Ohio licensure as a PA-C 0 years of relevant experience required. 0-2 years of relevant experience preferred. Additional Information The Advanced Practice Provider (APP) in Cancer Endocrinology provides specialized care for patients with thyroid and other endocrine-related malignancies, including differentiated and medullary thyroid cancer, adrenal tumors, parathyroid disorders, and pituitary neoplasms. The APP collaborates closely with endocrinologists, oncologists, surgeons, and multidisciplinary teams to deliver comprehensive, evidence-based care. Responsibilities Responsibilities include evaluation and management of new, return, and symptom management visits; surveillance of cancer recurrence; management of treatment-related endocrine dysfunction (e.g., hypothyroidism, adrenal insufficiency, hypoparathyroidism); interpretation of diagnostic studies (labs, imaging, biopsy results); patient education; and coordination of care across specialties. The APP supports treatment planning, including systemic therapy considerations and hormone management, and contributes to quality improvement, patient access, and program development initiatives.
