This role is open to candidates from either a Clinical Laboratory Science or Histology background with the appropriate New York State licensure and experience.This role is responsible for performing histological procedures and laboratory testing using both manual and automated techniques to produce high-quality pathology slides and accurate laboratory results that support patient diagnosis and care. This is an excellent opportunity for a licensed laboratory professional who thrives in a fast-paced clinical environment and is committed to quality, precision, and patient safety.ScheduleFull-TimeEvening ShiftMonday – Friday2:00 PM – 10:00 PMCompensationSalary Range: $94,000 – $121,000 annuallyHistotechnologist - $94,000 – $121,000 (based on full-time employment)Histotechnician - $64,000 - $95,000 (based on full-time employment)Compensation is based on experience, education, certifications, and internal equity.Position ResponsibilitiesClinical Laboratory Scientist ResponsibilitiesPerform laboratory testing in accordance with established laboratory procedures and quality standardsEnsure accuracy throughout pre-analytic, analytic, and post-analytic testing phasesMaintain quality control, calibration, maintenance, and proficiency testing recordsIdentify and troubleshoot testing issues and document corrective actionsNotify clinicians and patient care units of critical values while meeting STAT turnaround requirementsParticipate in CAP, AABB, NYSDOH, and Joint Commission regulatory readiness activitiesAssist with validations, competency assessments, inspections, and quality improvement initiativesMaintain inventory control, lot tracking, expiration monitoring, and quality assurance documentationComplete continuing education requirements and mandatory training programsHistotechnologist / Histotechnician ResponsibilitiesPerform embedding and sectioning of tissue blocks according to established protocolsEvaluate routine H&E stains and correct inconsistencies prior to slide releasePerform and evaluate special stains and immunohistochemistry proceduresReview and document positive and negative controls for all staining proceduresMaintain adherence to quality standards, sterile practices, and laboratory policiesSupport pathology operations and workflow efficiencyQualificationsClinical Laboratory Scientist RequirementsCurrent New York State License as a Clinical Laboratory Technologist, Histotechnologist, or Physician Assistant requiredEducation meeting NYS Office of Professions and CLIA requirementsASCP Certification preferredHistotechnologist / Histotechnician RequirementsCurrent New York State Clinical Laboratory Technician License or Histotechnician License requiredDegree in Medical Technology or related science preferredOne year of hospital histology experience preferredASCP Certification preferredCore CompetenciesStrong attention to detail and accuracyExcellent organizational and multitasking skillsAdaptability and flexibilityStrong stress tolerance and focusAbility to work independently and collaboratively
