Job Summary:
Medical Surgical with Telemetry Registered Nurse (RN) position available in the region. The role involves providing high-quality patient care in a 34-bed medical-surgical unit utilizing a co-care/virtual nursing model. Candidates will be responsible for managing a patient load with support from bedside RNs and virtual nurses, while adhering to safety and quality standards.

Job Details:

• Location: Region with a 34-bed medical-surgical unit utilizing a co-care/virtual nursing model
• Schedule: Night shifts, 12 hours per shift, with a minimum of 48 hours per week
• Certifications Required: Basic Life Support (BLS)
• Skills Required: Medical Surgical (MS) and Telemetry (TELE), interpretation and management of dysrhythmias, use of Rapid Response/Code teams, peripheral line care/management, nasal cannula, oxygen administration, oxygen tanks, non-invasive airway management, isolation precautions/PPE
• Experience: No minimum years of experience required, although 1 year is preferred; patient care experience on medical-surgical units is advantageous
• Open to First Timers: Yes
• Floats Within Scope: Yes, may float within scope to like units as needed
• Weekend Coverage: Yes, with possible increased frequency depending on staffing needs
• RTO Restrictions: Time off approved on an individual basis, requests must be included during submission
• Guaranteed Hours: 60 hours per 2 weeks
• Patient Ratios: 6 patients per night shift for registered nurses and nursing assistants, virtual nurses support remote care with patient loads of 18 on days and 24 on nights
• Additional Information: Candidates must hold an Alaska RN license in hand at the time of offer or be able to complete the license application within 48 hours; assignment includes procedural and interdisciplinary support activities
