Northwest Sarcoma Foundation Position: Executive Director Location: Seattle, Washington (Covering WA, OR, ID, MT, and AK). Must live in the Seattle, WA area. Type: Full-Time, Exempt Reports To: Board of Directors Compensation: $95,000 – $125,000 Organization Overview The Northwest Sarcoma Foundation is a small, regional non-profit dedicated to supporting patients and families affected by Sarcoma. We provide patient navigation, financial assistance, education, and advocacy while funding critical research into understudied rare malignancies. As a lean organization operating across the Pacific Northwest, we rely heavily on strategic partnerships, major donors, corporate sponsors, and grant funding to sustain and expand our impact. Position Summary The Executive Director is a senior leadership role responsible for driving sustainable revenue growth, operational excellence, and strategic partnerships for the foundation. This position will lead all fundraising initiatives while directly managing the daily operations, compliance, and fractional staff of a nimble, mission-driven organization. This is a high-impact "builder" role suited for an entrepreneurial leader who thrives in a resource-constrained environment and is willing to be both hands-on and strategic. Key Responsibilities Revenue Generation & Development (50%) Develop and execute a comprehensive fundraising strategy targeting $0.5M–$1M+ in annual revenue. Manage and optimize the donor lifecycle utilizing Little Green Light (LGL), segmenting giving tiers and establishing automated stewardship workflows. Cultivate and steward major individual donors, family foundations, corporate sponsorships, and cause-marketing campaigns. Oversee annual giving, special events, and the end-to-end lifecycle management of foundation and corporate grants. Operations, Finance & Compliance (30%) Formulate, track, and manage the annual operating budget. Utilize QuickBooks for daily fund accounting, ensuring precise allocation of restricted and unrestricted assets. Provide transparent monthly financial health dashboards and revenue forecasts to the Board of Directors. Maintain rigorous oversight of all federal and state rules and regulations pertaining to non-profits, including 501(c)(3) compliance, annual 990 filings support, and charitable solicitation licensing across our multi-state region. Personnel & Fractional Team Leadership (10%) Directly manage, mentor, and maximize a lean staff structure, including two 0.25 FTE and one 0.5 FTE fractional employees, alongside volunteers and consultants. Drive accountability and clear communication plans to optimize team performance in a remote environment. Marketing & Digital Communications (10%) Design and implement integrated, multi-channel communication plans across email, direct mail, and social media platforms to expand public brand identity. Maintain ownership of the organization’s website management, optimizing public-facing digital assets to ensure a seamless online giving and event registration user journey. Qualifications & Experience Required: 7+ years of progressive experience in non-profit fundraising, development, or sales with a proven track record of securing major gifts, grants, and sponsorships. Demonstrated experience with budget development and financial management within QuickBooks. Mastery of non-profit database management, with a strong preference for Little Green Light (LGL) or equivalent CRMs. Deep understanding of regulatory landscapes, 501(c)(3) rules, and compliance standards governing small non-profits. Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, including experience in grant writing and community outreach. Proven capability to manage part-time, fractional, or volunteer staff effectively. Preferred: Direct experience working within a small-to-midsize, regional non-profit organization. Knowledge of the oncology, rare cancer, or broader healthcare philanthropic ecosystem. Experience designing and implementing social media campaigns and managing content management systems (CMS) for websites. Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree or CFRE certification is a plus.
