The General Accountant is responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, preparing financial reports, reconciling accounts, and supporting month-end and year-end closing processes. This role works closely with management to ensure compliance with accounting standards, company policies, and regulatory requirements while providing financial analysis and support to business operations.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare and maintain general ledger entries and account reconciliations.
• Assist with month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes.
• Record and analyze financial transactions to ensure accuracy and completeness.
• Reconcile bank statements, credit card accounts, and balance sheet accounts.
• Prepare journal entries and supporting documentation.
• Assist in the preparation of financial statements and management reports.
• Monitor accounts payable and accounts receivable activities as needed.
• Analyze financial data and identify discrepancies or variances.
• Support budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning activities.
• Ensure compliance with GAAP, company policies, and internal controls.
• Assist with external audits, tax filings, and regulatory reporting requirements.
• Maintain fixed asset records and depreciation schedules.
• Prepare sales tax, use tax, and other required filings.
• Recommend process improvements to increase efficiency and accuracy.
• Provide support to management on financial and operational initiatives.

Qualifications

Education

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required.

Experience

• 3+ years of general accounting experience.
• Experience with month-end close, reconciliations, and financial reporting.
• Experience working within ERP or accounting software systems.

Technical Skills

• Strong understanding of accounting principles and financial reporting.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including pivot tables and VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP functions.
• Experience with ERP systems such as SAP, NetSuite, Oracle, Dynamics, or similar platforms.
• Knowledge of budgeting and forecasting processes.
