Job Description:

Shield AI is seeking a Senior Supervisor, Facilities to lead safe, reliable, and consistent Facilities Operations across an assigned region. This role directly supervises Facilities Coordinators, manages regional service delivery, leads qualifying non-capital facilities projects, and serves as the primary Facilities partner to site and business leadership. 

This is a hands-on people-leadership role. The successful candidate will move comfortably between coaching employees, resolving urgent facility issues, coordinating vendors, managing budgets and commitments, leading workplace improvements, communicating with employees, and using operating data to improve performance. 

The Senior Supervisor executes within global and regional standards while applying sound judgment to local conditions. The role is accountable for regional implementation and escalation; enterprise strategy, policy, and major capital delivery remain with the appropriate functional owners. 

What you'll do:

Lead and Develop the Regional Facilities Team 

• Directly supervise, coach, and develop Facilities Coordinators assigned to the region. 
• Set priorities, clarify ownership, delegate work, and establish consistent expectations for service, responsiveness, documentation, and follow-through. 
• Conduct regular team meetings, one-on-ones, performance feedback, development planning, and workload reviews in partnership with People Experience. 
• Build cross-site coverage plans, balance workload, and maintain continuity during absences, business events, incidents, and periods of rapid growth. 
• Create a culture of ownership, proactive communication, customer service, safety, and continuous improvement. 
• Identify skill, capacity, and succession needs and elevate them through the applicable Facilities Operations leader. 

Operate the Regional Portfolio 

• Lead day-to-day Facilities Operations across offices, engineering spaces, manufacturing environments, laboratories, hangars, warehouses, and secure or classified areas, as applicable. 
• Maintain safe, professional, operationally ready workplaces that support employee productivity and business continuity. 
• Coordinate preventive and corrective maintenance, work orders, building services, utilities, landlord obligations, and service-provider response. 
• Serve as the regional Facilities escalation point for outages, service failures, workplace issues, and operational risks. 
• Implement global and regional standards, standard operating procedures, service levels, and documentation practices across assigned locations. 
• Coordinate with landlords, property managers, technicians, vendors, and internal partners to resolve recurring issues and reduce operational disruption. 
• Support occupancy changes, employee moves, visitor readiness, meetings, events, and other workplace-service needs within the approved service model. 

Lead Non-Capital Facilities Projects and Support Major Project Turnover 

• Plan and deliver regional facilities projects that fall below Capital Delivery thresholds or do not require dedicated capital-project ownership. 
• Lead qualifying work such as minor improvements, space reconfigurations, restacks, furniture deployments, moves/adds/changes, signage, small repairs, workplace refreshes, service rollouts, landlord-coordinated work, and lifecycle replacements within delegated authority. 
• Define scope, coordinate stakeholders and vendors, manage schedule and cost, maintain documentation, communicate impacts, and close out assigned operational projects. 
• For major capital projects, provide site requirements, maintainability input, local coordination, shutdown planning, employee communications, readiness support, and operational acceptance. 
• Participate in commissioning and formal turnover to verify required training, warranties, asset records, spare parts, documentation, and operating procedures are complete. 
• Escalate work that exceeds approved cost, risk, technical-complexity, or governance thresholds to Capital Delivery and Facilities Operations leadership. 

Manage Vendors, Service Partners, and Regional Financial Execution 

• Direct and coordinate regional vendors, contractors, landlord teams, technicians, and outsourced service providers. 
• Monitor service quality, responsiveness, safety, scope compliance, cost, and performance against approved contracts and service expectations. 
• Review invoices, track purchase orders and commitments, support monthly forecasts, and maintain accurate budget and project documentation. 
• Identify cost risks, service gaps, and opportunities to improve value without compromising safety, reliability, compliance, or employee experience. 
• Support sourcing, onboarding, renewals, and performance reviews in partnership with Procurement and the applicable Facilities Operations leader. 

Implement EH&S, Security, and Compliance Requirements 

• Partner with Global EH&S to implement workplace-safety, environmental, industrial-hygiene, contractor-safety, emergency-preparedness, and corrective-action requirements. 
• Partner with Security to implement physical-security, access-control, visitor, incident-response, and secure-facility operating requirements within the approved scope. 
• Confirm contractors and vendors meet site access, safety, security, insurance, and work-control requirements before and during execution. 
• Support inspections, audits, emergency exercises, incident reviews, and timely closure of assigned corrective actions. 
• Escalate material safety, security, environmental, regulatory, service, and business-continuity risks promptly and clearly. 
• Coordinate with IT, People, Capital Delivery, Global Real Estate, Finance, Procurement, and business leadership as regional needs require. 

Deliver a Consistent Employee and Customer Experience 

• Serve as the principal regional Facilities contact for site leaders, employees, and business partners. 
• Communicate planned outages, construction impacts, relocations, service changes, and restoration activities clearly and proactively. 
• Resolve recurring service issues, gather feedback, and balance customer needs with standards, risk, budget, and portfolio priorities. 
• Build trusted relationships with local leadership while maintaining consistent enterprise practices across sites. 

Use Data, Governance, and Continuous Improvement to Raise Performance 

• Maintain accurate regional reporting for work orders, maintenance, vendors, budget, projects, incidents, risks, actions, and customer experience. 
• Participate in recurring Facilities Operations reviews and other governance forums, presenting issues, trends, decisions, and corrective actions. 
• Maintain regional risk, issue, and action registers and drive assigned items to timely closure. 
• Use operating data and root-cause analysis to improve reliability, workflows, standards, documentation, and service quality. 
• Share lessons learned and effective practices across regions and maintain accurate information in approved Facilities systems. 

Required qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in facilities, business, operations, engineering, construction, communications, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience. 
• 3+ years of progressive experience across facilities, workplace, office operations, property operations, project coordination, vendor management, or a closely related operating function. 
• Demonstrated leadership of people, projects, vendors, or cross-functional teams through direct supervision, work direction, training, mentoring, project leadership, meeting leadership, or comparable responsibility. 
• Experience supporting multiple sites, a complex campus, or multiple concurrent operational workstreams with competing priorities. 
• Demonstrated ability to plan and deliver workplace improvements, moves, service rollouts, minor facility projects, or related operational initiatives. 
• Experience coordinating vendors or contractors and managing scopes, schedules, service expectations, purchase orders, invoices, or budget documentation. 
• Working knowledge of facility operations and commercial building services, with the ability to learn and apply requirements involving HVAC, electrical, plumbing, fire and life safety, access control, and other building systems. 
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, sound judgment, and the ability to work effectively with employees, technical partners, vendors, and senior site stakeholders. 
• Ability to use work-management, project, collaboration, and reporting tools to maintain accurate records and communicate performance. 
• Ability to work primarily on-site, travel throughout the assigned region, and support planned or unplanned after-hours response when required. 

Preferred qualifications:

• Prior experience directly supervising employees or leading a distributed site-services team. 
• Experience in aerospace, defense, advanced manufacturing, engineering, technology, laboratory, aviation, or another mission-critical environment. 
• Experience supporting secure, controlled-access, or classified facilities; ICD 705 familiarity or training is a plus.
• Experience with a computerized maintenance management system, integrated workplace management system, building management system, or comparable facilities platform. 
• Experience supporting facility openings, expansions, relocations, construction coordination, commissioning, or operational turnover. 
• Familiarity with OSHA requirements, contractor-safety practices, emergency response, and corrective-action management. 
• CFM, FMP, SFP, OSHA 30, LEED, project-management, or another relevant professional credential.

• Partner effectively across Facilities Operations, Capital Delivery, Global Real Estate, EH&S, Security, IT, People, Finance, Procurement, and the business. 

Work environment, travel, and availability:

• This role is primarily on-site and supports facilities throughout the assigned region. 
• Regional travel is expected at approximately 20%, with frequency adjusted for site needs, projects, incidents, and team development.
• The role may operate in office, engineering, manufacturing, warehouse, hangar, laboratory, construction-adjacent, or secure environments, as applicable. 
• Availability for occasional early-morning, evening, weekend, or on-call response is required when critical facility conditions or business needs arise. 

San Diego, CA pay range: $94,000 - $140,000

San Mateo, CA and Seattle, WA pay range: $110,000 - $170,000
