Job Title: General Labor Automotive Carpet Manufacturing

Job Description

This full-time, long-term general labor position supports high-volume manufacturing of carpeted products for the automotive industry. You will work on a production line loading and unloading materials into presses, inspecting parts, and producing formed and trimmed carpet assemblies used in vehicle trunks, headliners, under hoods, and floorboards. Multiple openings are available on second shift, and the role requires consistent overtime, including some weekends.

Responsibilities

• Load and unload carpet assemblies and related materials into and out of manufacturing presses in a high-production environment.
• Operate within stamping cells that contain multiple presses, following established production procedures and safety guidelines.
• Inspect finished parts for quality, ensuring products meet required specifications and standards.
• Trim parts as needed to achieve proper fit and finish according to production requirements.
• Handle carpet assemblies weighing approximately 1015 pounds and occasionally lift materials up to 50 pounds during material handling tasks.
• Maintain accurate production output by consistently meeting efficiency and volume targets tracked by the facility.
• Follow instructions from line leaders and production supervisors to support smooth operation of the production line.
• Learn and perform 23 different jobs on the line during the first week, becoming efficient after initial training.
• Adhere to all attendance, punctuality, and overtime requirements, including working 10-hour shifts and up to 6 days per week when needed.
• Support a clean, organized, and safe work area by following plant policies and safety procedures at all times.

Essential Skills

• Stable work history, typically with at least 12 years of tenure at previous jobs.
• Reliable attendance, including arriving on time for all shifts and avoiding unplanned call-ins.
• Willingness to work overtime and weekends, including 10-hour shifts and up to 6 days per week when required.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds during material handling tasks and regularly handle carpet assemblies weighing 1015 pounds.
• Comfort working in a fast-paced manufacturing and production environment.
• Attention to detail for inspection and trimming of parts to meet quality standards.
• Ability to follow written and verbal instructions and work effectively under line leaders and supervisors.
• Minimum age of 18 to work in the facility.

Work Environment

The work takes place in large, high-production manufacturing plants that produce carpeted automotive components with soundproof, weatherproof, and waterproof backing. The company operates multiple facilities of similar size, each with approximately 70 production employees per shift and numerous stamping cells containing 4 or more presses per cell. You will typically stand at a press with a material cart, loading and unloading carpet assemblies, inspecting parts, and trimming as needed. The environment can be loud depending on the area, and production numbers and efficiencies are closely tracked. Shifts are structured as 1st shift (7:00 a.m.3:00 p.m.), 2nd shift (3:00 p.m.11:00 p.m.), and 3rd shift (11:00 p.m.7:00 a.m.), with current operations often running 10-hour days and up to 6 days per week. On day one, you will be paired with a line leader and a top-producing production employee, and most jobs require about one day of training to become efficient, with the expectation of learning 23 different jobs in the first week.

This is a Permanent position based out of Port Huron, MI.

The pay range for this position is $36400.00 - $37024.00/yr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
