Cafeteria Worker/Cashier - Child Nutrition

Title: Child Nutrition Cafeteria Worker/Cashier

Qualifications:

• Ability to read and write English and communicate well, both orally and written.
• Good physical condition, able to walk, stand, lift, operate equipment, stoop for long periods of time and ability to lift at least 20 pounds.
• Must be bonded.
• Ability to type accurately and basic knowledge of math and computers.
• Diplomatic, congenial manner; appropriate, well-groomed appearance.
• Other requirements as outlined by the Board and by Administration.

Reports To: Child Nutrition Manager

Job Goal: Assists in preparing and serving attractive, nutritious meals to students and staff in clean, cheerful atmosphere. Responsible for collecting lunch/breakfast money at the point of service.

Performance Responsibilities:

• Properly stores food to assure freshness and safety.
• Does preliminary preparation of salad, main courses, and desserts.
• Combines prepared ingredients through cooking, blending, chilling or freezing to make a finished dish.
• Sets up serving counters, attractively displaying foods and serve customers.
• Portions food and may package meals to be taken to other locations.
• Removes used dishes from preparation, serving and eating areas; clean counters, tables and kitchen areas, sweeping and mopping as directed.
• Scrapes washes and puts away dishes and other kitchen utensils.
• Removes trash to pick up area; maintains area in sanitary manner.
• Cleans refrigerator, freezer, storeroom, cabinets, etc., as directed.
• Performs duties in a safe manner to ensure the prevention of injury to self and others which includes folding and storing cafeteria tables.
• Collects money and records meals using computer software program.
• Implements cash controls as outlined in the "Cashier Procedures"
• Performs related duties as assigned and as requested by manager and/or Child Nutrition Director.

Terms of Employment: 182 days Classified Non-Exempt

Evaluation: Performance of this job will be evaluated annually by the Child Nutrition Manager.
