About the Role:

The RA works as a new team member who is receiving training, providing active treatment according to an active treatment schedule which includes: provision of activities, promoting the growth, development and independence of the people served, following habilitation plans and specific behavioral interventions, providing and training the people served in skills of daily living and as appropriate - personal hygiene, grooming and personal care, health maintenance, self-preservation and safety, self-direction, communication skills, social skills and training in community orientation. Training is provided on an ongoing basis.

 

What You'll Do:

• Receive all orientation, training, medical tests and immunizations required by JFM and the pertinent program / facility, and meet the requirements of a Developmental Training Assistant (DTA) within the first 6 months of employment. The Inservice training requirement for DTA is 60 hours, not to include more than 24 hours of job shadowing.
• Responsible for following all the procedures and policies that are appropriate to this position.
• Give feedback to the DTC and/or QIDP regarding the development, implementation, evaluation and modification of the people served training programs.
• Follow all habilitation plans and behavioral management plans as provided by the DTC and QIDP.
• Follow the Active Treatment Schedules.
• Participate in the Recreation and Program Activities as planned by the Activities Coordinator, with the people served in the Community and Facility.
• Help maintain a safe, home-like environment that follows the principle of normalization and as necessary for each person's personal growth.
• Be familiar with each person's routine and Person Centered Plan.
• Be familiar with providing Activities of Daily Living services and training to each person served. This will include: personal hygiene, grooming and personal care, including appropriate eating, dressing, care and selection of clothing and toileting, providing activities, habilitation, therapies and approved behavioral interventions. 
• Physical coordination will include: the ability to walk, bend, twist, push, pull, sit, drive and ride in vehicles, lift 50 pounds or 1/4 of your weight, whichever is less, push occupied wheelchairs, run van lifts and use tie-downs, transfer people in mechanical lifts, reposition people and bathe them in a tub or shower, pick-up and clean bedrooms, bathrooms and common areas and other duties as assigned.
• Be familiar with individual behavioral interventions should a person served have one, provide the necessary interventions in accordance to appropriate and approved procedures.
• Understand the IDT process and implement the Person Centered Plan (PCP), as well as the system by which changes and improvements are made to the PCP.
• Document all services provided by the employee and any other documentation required to provide the required services to each person served. Reading, writing, sight and hearing skills are necessary to perform these duties.
• Confidentiality concerning anything heard or seen in the workplace is necessary. Other staff are informed only on a need to know
• Work ethics will be evidenced through positive relations with fellow employees, teamwork, supporting people served, their family members, guardians and the public and exhibiting professional conduct at all times and by wearing appropriate attire.
• Be proficient in the observation, reporting and monitoring of medical or behavioral changes.
• The RA will follow assignments as provided by at least the DT/Team Leader. Attending to Shift Report is critical in obtaining all information provided by the DT/Team Leader and the QIDP.
• Attendance and Punctuality is essential, which includes staff meetings, trainings and any other meetings as assigned.
• Each employee is responsible for maintaining safe work practices that address the people supported, coworkers, equipment, building, grounds and vehicles.
• Provide for appropriate dining experiences for the people supported.
• The RA will be trained in vehicle lift and tie-down use and may drive or go on trips, outings, or appointments as assigned.

 

What We're Looking For:

• Education / Experience: High School Diploma or GED. Experience in the Human Services field highly desirable but not required. Ability to use a variety of computer software including word processing, data base, and e-mail is a plus.
• Skills/Abilities: Familiarity with terms used in the social work arena and experience with DHHS / OADS agencies desirable.

Compensation:

The anticipated hiring range for this position is $19.00–$23.00 per hour (or $39,520.00–$47,840.00 annually ), depending on qualifications, experience, education, and other job-related factors. Eligible employees are also offered a comprehensive benefits package.

 

Shift Differentials!

Second Shift (1:00pm-9:00pm) additional $1.50, Third Shift (9:00pm-5:00am) additional $2.50

Friday from 1:00pm to Monday at 5:00am = additional $3.50!
