Accountant

Accountant The Accountant performs intermediate accounting work, encompassing processing, recording, and reporting financial transactions to align with the organization's objectives. Additionally, this role oversees payroll functions to ensure accuracy and compliance. Duties and Responsibilities Prepares monthly journal entries, bank statements, schedules, and other reconciliations. Assist with the annual audit process. Monitor accounts receivable, accounts payable, and contract payable activities. Prepares invoices, makes deposits, and performs other cash-related activities. Analyze federal, state, and local grants to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements. Assist in developing and updating accounting policies, procedures, manuals, and systems. Provide backup support for payroll processing, accuracy, and compliance as needed. Contribute to special projects as required. Financial analysis and research procedures. Electronic financial and accounting information/application systems. Relevant business software applications. Skill in: Performing complex financial and statistical reconciliations. Problem identification and solution recommendation. Effective communication both orally and in writing. Professional interaction with various organizational levels and external representatives. Operating computers and general office equipment. Ability to: Think and act independently. Prepare comprehensive reports and correspondence. Implement applicable policies and procedures. Analyze complex data. Understand and apply relevant laws, rules, regulations, policies, etc. Read, write, speak, and understand English. Assist in cash handling and travel to other locations in Toledo. Minimum Qualifications A combination of education and/or experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the essential functions of the position. Education and Experience Bachelor's Degree in Accounting required. Five (5) years of relevant experience in Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, General Ledger accounting and month-end closing. The role involves occasional bending and stooping (0.252.5 hours daily) and lifting/carrying up to 20 lbs. Reaching above shoulder level, pushing, and pulling are not required. Fine manipulation is performed frequently (2.55.5 hours daily). Driving is never required. This is considered a moderate stress level position.
