Job Opportunity – Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) RN – Virginia

Start Date: August 17, 2026

Location: Salem, Virginia

Compensation: Details provided to qualified applicants

Schedule: Three 12-hour shifts per week; 4 weekend shifts per 4-week schedule; shift begins with huddle at 6:45am

Highlights:

• Newly opened NICU (opened November 2023) with state-of-the-art equipment including GE 650 monitors, Medela breast pumps, syringe and IV pumps, and bili-lights
• 6-bed unit with patient ratios of 1:2-3 for focused, high-quality care
• Documentation systems include Meditech and Centricity Perinatal
• Fantastic collaboration with experienced neonatology team
• Hospital-provided scrubs for convenience and uniformity
• Block scheduling available for flexibility

Requirements:

• Active RN licensure in Virginia (or compact state)
• BLS and NRP certifications required
• Demonstrated IV insertion skills in preterm or term infants
• Ability to work independently with strong assessment skills and knowledge of declining health symptoms in preterm infants
• Breastfeeding support experience and strong communication skills preferred
• Advanced skills desired: experience caring for and stabilizing critically ill infants requiring ventilator support, CPAP, UVC placement, surfactant administration, needle decompression, and administration of TPN and lipids
