RN Position Job Notes:

Travel or Local Registered Nurse needed for ASAP start. A minimum of 2+ years of recent hospital bedside experience is required. Candidates must be able to start within 5 weeks. Opportunity for extension upon successful completion of the initial assignment. $750 referral bonus available.

Registered Nurse - PCU

Job Details:

• Minimum 2 years of nursing experience required
• Travel experience required - first-time travelers not accepted
• 8 weekend shifts required in 6-week schedule period (combination of Friday/Saturday/Sunday)
• Patient ratio of 5:1 for both days and nights
• Daily census of 20 patients
• Care for adolescents, adults, and geriatrics
• Regular floating required between departments, units, and facilities as needed
• Must have Kansas and Missouri licenses or compact license
• Required certifications: BLS, NIHSS
• Epic charting system experience required
• Maximum 7 days of requested time off allowed
• Guaranteed 3 shifts per 13-week contract
• Required skills include: MS/Tele, PCU/DOU/IMC/Stepdown experience, dysrhythmia interpretation and management, feeding tube care, continuous bladder irrigation, peripheral and PICC line management, IV starts, epidural analgesia, PCA management, surgical drains, chest tubes, wound care/wound vac, and isolation precautions
• Primary patient population includes post-operative bariatric, urology, hepatobiliary, colorectal, and trauma patients
• Manage patients with epidurals, PCAs, ketamine drips, lidocaine infusions, and multiple drainage systems
• Complete Epic training modules and infusion pump/glucometer training before start date

This progressive care unit specializes in caring for complex surgical patients requiring intermediate-level monitoring and care. The facility provides comprehensive post-operative care for patients who have undergone major surgical procedures including bariatric surgery, complex urological procedures, hepatobiliary surgeries, and trauma cases. The unit is equipped with advanced monitoring technology and maintains high standards for specialized surgical patient care with focus on pain management and wound healing.
