Rare Disease Business Manager, Sleep Disorders

Rare Disease Business Manager, Sleep Disorders We are seeking a highly motivated professional to lead sales and territory growth for a new rare neuromodulator therapy for narcolepsy type 1. The incumbent will collaborate with a regional business leader and cross‑functional teams to educate healthcare providers, build relationships, and generate demand for this innovative treatment. Key Responsibilities Drive sales and territory expansion through the execution of effective sales strategies and tactics in the narcolepsy type 1 therapeutic area. Build and maintain impactful relationships with targeted healthcare providers and specialty accounts. Educate clinicians on disease state, product mechanisms, and therapeutic benefits to generate demand. Implement sales and marketing plans, leveraging approved, on‑label materials to achieve monthly, quarterly, and annual sales goals. Engage specialty customers—including sleep specialists, neurologists, pulmonologists, and sleep center staff—to advance diagnosis and treatment. Analyze local, regional, and national business trends to identify opportunities and develop strategic priorities. Document account interactions, develop pre‑call plans, and record post‑call activities using the CRM system. Manage the territory budget in compliance with company policies. Collaborate with Patient Access, Market Access, Marketing, and other internal teams to align strategies and support customer outcomes. Uphold compliance and ethical standards, ensuring adherence to all company policies and relevant regulations. Key Competencies Results‑focused with a strong sense of urgency to drive performance. Clinical expertise in disease state and product knowledge with strong selling skills. Strategic planning and territory management to achieve sales targets. Exceptional communication skills for engaging specialty HCPs and internal partners. Financial responsibility in managing territory budgets. Required Qualifications Bachelor’s degree (BS/BA). 3+ years of successful selling experience in pharmaceutical, biotech, or medical device; or 2+ years of selling experience at Takeda. Excellent verbal and written communication abilities. Proven ability to navigate complex sales environments and influence decision makers. Strong business acumen and strategic planning skills for identifying and executing sales opportunities. Demonstrated territory planning, strategic account management, and prioritization skills. Ability to analyze data and translate insights into effective sales strategies. Collaborative mindset for working within a matrix of cross‑functional partners. Understanding of payer access and reimbursement strategies at various geographic levels. Adaptability to evolving market conditions and customer needs. Learning agility to develop and apply clinical expertise and selling skills. Residence within the assigned territory or close proximity. Preferred Qualifications 5+ years of pharmaceutical sales experience, preferably in rare disease or sleep disorders. Experience selling products that require coordination with patient access and market access teams. Relevant clinical or industry experience. Consultative and needs‑based selling skills. Experience in a highly regulated marketplace. Comfort with emerging technologies, digital tools, and AI‑enabled processes. Licenses / Certifications Valid driver’s license. Travel Requirements Ability to drive and/or fly to accounts and business meetings. Occasional overnight travel of up to 25-50% may be required depending on geographic assignment. Training Requirements Successful completion of mandatory product training—including written and oral examinations—is required for employment. After training, the employee will transition to exempt status.
