Job Opportunity – Registered Nurse, Behavioral Health – North Carolina

Start Date: September 21, 2026

Location: North Carolina

Schedule: Weekend nights (Friday, Saturday, Sunday), 6:45 PM - 7:15 AM, 36-48 hours per week available

Highlights:

• Work with an adult and geriatric behavioral health population across all mental health diagnoses in a locked, inpatient setting
• 1:7 nurse-to-patient ratio with comprehensive interdisciplinary support including therapy teams working seven days per week
• Epic EMR system with Pyxis medication management and advanced patient monitoring technology
• 32 hours of orientation provided, including hospital-wide training and unit-specific protocols
• 13-26 week contract lengths available; first-time travelers welcome
• Rotating between two behavioral health units with varying acuity levels to build diverse clinical expertise

Requirements:

• Active RN license (North Carolina or Compact state license)
• Minimum 2 years of nursing experience required
• Epic charting system experience required
• Current BLS and MOAB (Management of Aggressive Behavior) or CPI certification
• Strong background in behavioral health, including experience with substance use disorders, anxiety disorders, bipolar disorder, depressive disorders, PTSD, schizophrenia-spectrum disorders, and suicidal/assaultive behaviors
• Proficiency in crisis intervention, de-escalation techniques, behavior management, physical hold protocols, and seclusion procedures
• Experience with psychotropic medication administration including antipsychotics, antidepressants, mood stabilizers, and antianxiety medications
• Competency in blood glucose monitoring, wound care, oxygen administration, and interpretation of lab values
• Willingness to float to medical-surgical units for task support when needed
• Flu vaccination required (medical/religious exemptions considered)
