We are seeking a skilled construction coordinator to lead contract administration, ensure compliance, and drive our capital improvement projects (CIP) to successful completion. Working under the general supervision of the senior project manager, you will serve as a vital link between contractors, field inspectors, utility companies, and the public.

You will have a high degree of independence, overseeing major capital projects from pre-construction to final closeout. You will also serve as a mentor and guide to field personnel, helping elevate the quality of our inspection team.

Impact and responsibilities

• Drive project success: manage contract work for the construction and renovation of city buildings, parks, roads, and utilities. Ensure projects stay on schedule, within budget, and clear of construction claims.
• Lead contract administration: oversee RFIs, change orders, product submittals, and progress payments. Balance expenditures and contribute your expertise to CIP budget recommendations.
• Be the problem solver: mediate construction standard differences between inspectors and contractors, negotiate disputes, and resolve citizen or developer complaints with transparency and professionalism.
• Collaborate & communicate: act as the primary point of contact for utility companies, outside agencies, and city departments to keep all stakeholders aligned and informed.

The ideal candidate

• The technical expert: deep knowledge of public works construction practices, standard specifications, and civil engineering principles.
• The project leader: proven experience in contract administration, cost estimation, blueprint review, and construction scheduling software.
• The effective communicator: ability to explain complex technical projects clearly to citizen groups, legislative bodies, and contractors alike.
• The regulation savvy: familiarity with local, state, and federal rules, including safety standards, storm water regulations, and building codes.
