CT Technologist

Job Summary:

The Radiology / Cardiology CT Technologist is responsible for performing computed tomography imaging procedures in both radiology and cardiology settings. This role involves operating CT equipment to produce high-quality diagnostic images, ensuring patient safety and comfort, and collaborating with healthcare professionals to support accurate diagnosis and treatment. The CT Tech will float between units and must be capable of handling on-call duties and weekend shifts with a focus on maintaining excellent patient care and adherence to safety protocols. Responsibilities:

• Operate CT scanners to perform diagnostic imaging procedures in radiology and cardiology departments.
• Prepare patients for CT procedures, including explaining the process and ensuring patient safety and comfort.
• Monitor patient condition during imaging and respond to any adverse reactions or emergencies.
• Maintain and calibrate CT equipment to ensure optimal performance and image quality.
• Collaborate with radiologists, cardiologists, and other healthcare team members to review and interpret imaging results.
• Maintain accurate patient records and document procedures in the electronic medical record system.
• Adhere to radiation safety standards and infection control protocols.
• Participate in on-call rotations and provide coverage during weekends as required.

Required Skills & Certifications:

• Certification as a CT Technologist or equivalent credential.
• Minimum of 1 year experience as a CT Technologist or relevant imaging experience.
• Knowledge of radiologic technology and CT imaging procedures.
• Ability to operate CT imaging equipment safely and effectively.
• Strong patient care and communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
• Familiarity with electronic medical record systems (e.g., Epic) is preferred.

Preferred Skills & Certifications:

• Experience in both radiology and cardiology imaging environments.
• Additional certifications in radiologic technology or cardiac imaging.
• Experience working in a short-term acute care hospital setting.

Special Considerations:

• On-call required with 2-4 nights of call per month.
• Weekend shifts required (Saturday and Sunday from 14:00 to 22:30).
• Block scheduling is implemented to ensure consistent coverage.
• Float between units as needed.
• Maintain a 1:1 patient ratio during procedures.
• Always have two consecutive days off each week.
• 48-hour workweeks are not approved.

Scheduling:

• Full-time equivalent (1.0 FTE) with scheduled shifts on Saturday, Sunday, and Monday from 14:00 to 22:30.
• Additional two 8-hour shifts with variable hours each week.
• Weekend and on-call shifts are part of the regular schedule.
