Glass Delivery Driver

Full-Time | Monday-Friday | Base starting at $22.00 per hour, higher starting pay depending on experience Interstate Glass is looking for a dependable, professional Glass Delivery Driver to join our team. We are a woman-owned, locally operated Connecticut glass distributor serving glass shops and commercial customers throughout Connecticut and surrounding areas. Our delivery drivers are an important part of our business and are often the face of Interstate Glass to our customers. This is more than a traditional delivery-driver position. Our drivers work as part of a team to safely load, transport and unload glass, mirrors and other fragile products. We are looking for someone who takes pride in their work, is dependable, treats customers well and understands the importance of handling our products carefully. Responsibilities Safely operate an Interstate Glass delivery vehicle on assigned local and regional routes Load, secure, transport and unload glass, mirrors and other glass products Handle large and fragile pieces of glass carefully and safely Work with another team member when handling larger or heavier materials Verify orders and delivery paperwork before leaving the warehouse Make accurate and timely deliveries to customer locations Obtain signatures or other proof of delivery when required Communicate professionally with customers during deliveries Report damaged products, shortages, delivery issues or discrepancies to the office Communicate with the office regarding delays, route changes or customer concerns Inspect the delivery vehicle and glass racks before and during use Help keep delivery vehicles clean, organized and in safe operating condition Assist with loading, unloading and general warehouse duties when needed Follow all company safety procedures, including proper glass-handling practices and use of required personal protective equipment What We're Looking For Valid driver's license with a good driving record Delivery-driving or commercial driving experience preferred Experience handling glass or other large, fragile building materials is a plus, but we are willing to train the right person Forklift experience and ability to safely operate a forklift is preferred, but not required Reliable and punctual Strong attention to detail Good communication and customer-service skills Ability to follow delivery routes and use GPS/navigation Ability to work well with a partner and as part of a team Comfortable driving throughout Connecticut and surrounding areas Ability to safely handle physically demanding work throughout the day Physical Requirements This is an active, hands-on position. Applicants must be able to: Regularly lift, carry, push and pull heavy materials Safely handle large pieces of glass with another employee Repeatedly bend, reach, stand, walk and lift throughout the workday Get in and out of delivery vehicles frequently Work outdoors during deliveries in varying weather conditions Follow safe lifting and glass-handling procedures at all times Paid time off On-the-job training in proper glass handling and safety Stable, year-round work with an established Connecticut company Why Work at Interstate Glass?
