Atlas Healthcare at Seashore Gardens is in search of activity aides to fill both full-time and part-time positions. Schedule and shift options vary but may include daytime, evening, and weekend shifts on a consistent rotating schedule.

An ideal candidate will have prior experience working with the elderly population and participating in recreational activities within a nursing home environment. 

Candidates:

• Must have the ability to appropriately manage resident behavioral issues should they arise during an activity. 

• Demonstrates composure and emotional steadiness in fast-paced or demanding situations 

• Be reliable and prompt.

Job Description:

• Participate in community planning related to the interests of the facility and the services and needs of the residents and family members. 

• Encourage residents to participate in recreational and social activities so that all residents can be included by engaging in and organizing games, crafts, religious services, etc.

• Interview residents or family members to obtain activity information.

• Assist in planning, developing, organizing, and evaluating the activity programs of the facility. Adjust recreational programs to the needs of the residents. 

• Involve the resident/family in planning activities and objectives for the resident when possible.

• Independently lead a recreational program for both small/large groups and 1-1 visits. 

• Accompany residents on community outings. 

• Transport residents to and from recreational programs. 

• Arrange tables and chairs for large group programs. Help with decorations and cleanup. 

• Coordinate activities with other departments as necessary.

• Organize supplies and help keep track of inventory. 

• Participate in facility surveys made by authorized government agencies as necessary.

• Ensure that all charted activity progress notes are informative and descriptive of the services provided and indicate the resident's response to the service.

• Participate in our fall free initiative. Help be the eyes and ears of safety through meaningful interaction and programs. 

• Other duties as deemed necessary and appropriate, or as may be directed by the Activity Director/Assistant Activity Director or Administration. 

• Physical requirements include lifting up to 25 lbs, frequent bending, and extended periods of standing.
