Job Title Before and After School Leader FLSA Exemption Status Non-Exempt Classification Group Extended Childcare Services Pay Plan Educational Support Personnel Job Summary Assist the program director to plan and implement the child care program. Develop and promote good community relations among various community and school clientele. Assist director and/or assistant director to prepare and implement quality programming. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Follow and enforce all Colorado Department of Early Childhood licensing requirements. Work directly and actively supervise and engage with students during program hours. Exhibit excellent communication with parents, students, school staff, district staff, and co‑workers. Maintain safe conditions for all students and staff. Promote and market the program for before and after care and full days. Attend and participate in professional development trainings as required by licensing and district. Assist in implementing quality lesson plans for each day the program operates; may help create lesson plans. Assist with maintenance, proper storage, and repair of equipment and supplies. Contribute ideas for enrichment activities, projects, and program quality. Create and implement activities and field trips for full day programming. Attend monthly program staff meetings as required by the director. Perform other duties as assigned or requested. Reporting Relationships This job has no direct supervisory responsibilities. Minimum Qualifications Criminal background check and fingerprinting required. Must be 18 years of age or older. Demonstrated ability to work with children and have completed at least one of the following: At least 3 months (455 hours) of verified experience supervising four or more children who are not related to the candidate. A current early childhood professional credential level I one (1) or higher in version 3.0 as determined by the Department. Each year, from June 1 through May 31, complete at least 15 clock hours of training. Knowledge of most aspects of childcare. Ability to develop and utilize appropriate discipline procedures. Some leadership and management skill. Ability to make appropriate decisions and solve problems effectively. Excellent written and oral communication skills. Current CPR/First Aid certification or ability to obtain within 30 days. Physical Requirements and Working Conditions Light work strength (lifting or carrying up to 25 pounds). Work both indoors and outdoors. Typically a loud noise level. Occasional lifting, pulling, and/or pushing. Frequent bending, reaching, climbing. Requires visual concentration. Squatting. Working with others. Desired Qualifications Experience working in the public sector. Experience working directly with people from diverse racial, ethnic, and socioeconomic backgrounds. Racially conscious and culturally competent with a commitment to continuous improvement.
