Social Services Assistant: Full - Time

Sterling Care Bethesda is dedicated to providing compassionate care and enhancing the quality of life for our residents. We are seeking a Social Services Designee to support our Social Services Department in ensuring the emotional and social well-being of our residents. 

Job Summary:  

As a Social Services Assistant , you will work closely with the Director of Social Services to develop and implement programs that meet the emotional and social needs of our residents. Your role will help ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations while fostering a caring and supportive environment. 

Key Responsibilities:  

Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation of residents’ social services in compliance with regulations. 
Develop comprehensive social histories and psychosocial assessments, considering cultural, religious, and personal preferences. 
Assist in the orientation of residents and families to the facility, services, and resident rights. 
Participate in care conferences to advocate for residents’ psychosocial needs. 
Support admission, transfer, and discharge planning to ensure smooth transitions. 
Mediate and address concerns between residents, families, and staff. 
Connect residents with community resources to enhance their well-being. 
Provide informal counseling and emotional support to residents as needed. 
Ensure proper labeling and inventory of residents’ belongings. 
Promote a warm, respectful, and dignified environment for all residents. 
Respond promptly to resident needs and call lights when in care areas. 
Maintain organized records and filing systems for the Social Services Department. 
Participate in meetings, training sessions, and professional development opportunities. 

Qualifications:  

High school diploma or equivalent required. 
Previous experience in a long-term care (LTC) or skilled nursing facility (SNF) required. 

Degree in Social Work (MSW or LSW) is a plus.  
Strong interpersonal, communication, and problem-solving skills. 
Ability to work proficiently with designated computer systems.
