Inventory Control Manager

Position Summary

The Inventory Control Manager is responsible for leading our second-shift warehouse team and ensuring that inventory is accurate, organized and ready when our teams need it.

This is a hands-on leadership role responsible for inventory control, warehouse organization, material movement, cycle counting, receiving and staging, along with the day-to-day leadership and development of approximately six warehouse employees.

The right person will be comfortable working in the warehouse alongside the team while also using systems, reporting and inventory data to identify problems, improve processes and maintain accountability.

Key Responsibilities

Inventory Control & Accuracy

Maintain accurate inventory levels and locations across the warehouse.

Lead daily, weekly and scheduled cycle counts and investigate inventory discrepancies.

Identify the root cause of shortages, overages, damaged materials and inventory errors.

Ensure inventory transactions, transfers, adjustments and material movements are completed accurately and timely.

Monitor inventory levels and communicate potential shortages or material concerns to Supply Chain leadership.

Partner with Purchasing and Operations to make sure necessary materials are available when needed.

Maintain organized and clearly identified inventory locations.

Help establish and improve inventory-control procedures and standards.

Warehouse Operations

Lead the daily activities of the second-shift warehouse team.

Ensure incoming materials are received, verified and properly stored.

Oversee picking, staging and preparation of materials for upcoming jobs and operational needs.

Maintain an organized, clean and safe warehouse.

Ensure materials are stored and handled appropriately to reduce loss, damage and unnecessary waste.

Help improve warehouse layout, product flow and material-handling processes.

Monitor equipment, tools and warehouse needs and escalate issues appropriately.

Team Leadership

Directly manage approximately six warehouse employees.

Set clear daily priorities and assign work based on operational needs.

Coach employees on performance, productivity, quality and safety expectations.

Provide regular feedback and recognize strong performance.

Address attendance, performance and accountability issues promptly.

Participate in interviewing, hiring, onboarding and training warehouse employees.

Conduct performance conversations and provide meaningful input regarding promotions, corrective action and other employment decisions.

Systems, Reporting & Continuous Improvement

Maintain accurate inventory information within the company's ERP/inventory system.

Use inventory reports and data to identify discrepancies, trends and improvement opportunities.

Establish consistent processes for cycle counting, receiving, staging and inventory adjustments.

Track key warehouse and inventory metrics.

Recommend and implement process improvements that improve accuracy, efficiency and material availability.

Partner closely with Supply Chain, Operations and other departments to resolve inventory and material issues.

Completion of process-improvement initiatives

Qualifications

5+ years of warehouse, inventory control, supply chain or related experience.

2+ years of direct leadership or supervisory experience preferred.

Experience managing inventory within an ERP, WMS or similar systems.

Strong understanding of cycle counting, inventory reconciliation and warehouse processes.

Comfortable working with inventory reports, spreadsheets and operational data.

Ability to investigate problems, determine root causes and implement solutions.

Strong organizational and follow-through skills.

Able to effectively lead, coach and hold employees accountable.

Comfortable working in a hands-on warehouse environment.

Forklift or material-handling equipment experience preferred.

Physical & Work Requirements

Regularly works in a warehouse environment.

Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.

Ability to bend, reach, climb and move throughout warehouse areas.

Ability to occasionally lift and/or move materials up to approximately 50 pounds.

Ability to operate or become qualified to operate applicable warehouse/material-handling equipment.

Pay Range: $78,000 - $90,000 per year
