Our employees are charged to recognize the challenges we face and to respond to them with empathy, understanding, and a willingness to help.
The BOOST Advisor supports the success, retention, and completion of students participating in NC BOOST, an associate degree completion program modeled after CUNY's Accelerated Study in Associate Programs (ASAP). BOOST is designed to help students graduate on time by addressing academic, financial, and personal barriers to success.
The Advisor provides proactive, individualized academic and personal support to an assigned caseload of students, guiding them from enrollment through degree completion. Working as part of an integrated team, the Advisor collaborates closely with faculty, staff, and campus partners to help students stay on track, access resources, and achieve their educational goals.

  • Conduct proactive outreach (calls, emails, meetings) to ensure students remain engaged and connected to available support.
  • Assist in the identification, recruitment, and contact of potentially program-eligible students or applicants.
  • Collaborate with faculty, Records Office, Financial Aid, and other campus departments to resolve barriers to student persistence and graduation.
  • Maintain accurate and timely advising notes, student records, and data tracking in college systems.
  • Recommend appropriate referrals to tutoring, counseling, career, or opportunity programs as needed.
  • Assist with orientation of new BOOST students.
  • Organize and participate in special events, workshops, and seminars focused on student success, career readiness, and college engagement.
  • Contribute to program assessment, reporting, and continuous improvement efforts.
  • Provide support to the program director as needed, to include recruitment, marketing assistance, information sessions, delivery of relevant professional development to CCCC faculty and staff, and related administrative assistance as needed.
  • Collaborate with faculty and staff to ensure that students have a holistic, individualized, and consistent support throughout their college experience.
  • Respond in a timely and professional manner to student inquiries- phone, written, and personal conference.
  • Serve on committees as assigned.
  • Work virtually and during evening hours as needed.
  • Complete the annual five-hour staff development requirement.
  • Follow and support College activities, policies, and procedures.
  • Perform additional tasks and duties as assigned.
