Lead Maintenance Technician - Stormwater

The Public Works Department’s Stormwater Maintenance Division is responsible for maintaining city infrastructure and serves as the first line of defense to protect our waterways and natural environment from pollution. The Division is looking for its next Lead Maintenance Worker. The successful candidate will possess strong organizational skills, great customer service, and the ability to collaborate with the Division’s other leaders to form a cohesive leadership team. They should also be passionate about protecting the environment, comfortable leading a team of maintenance workers and contractors, and knowledgeable about the regulations that guide stormwater system operations. Note: This is an in‑person position. The schedule is Monday – Thursday, 6am – 4:30pm. Role & Responsibilities Schedule, assign and oversee inspection, cleaning, maintenance, repair, and installation activities related to the public stormwater infrastructure to ensure proper operation of the system. Oversee the operation of the decant facility and the mineral bin/temporary storage area; assign duties as needed. Schedule, assign, oversee, and coordinate repair/refurbishment of the existing public stormwater system related to new construction projects. Coordinate and assign inspection and construction requests related to stormwater for other city departments or public works divisions. Support the Construction Inspection Division by performing cleaning and TV inspection of new and existing storm lines and structures, assist with final inspections of development projects, and assist with warranty inspections to verify all new improvements are ready for the Stormwater Maintenance Division to take ownership. Coordinate and assign response to emergency spills or illicit discharges to quickly protect water quality and the environment. Qualifications Education and Experience High School Diploma or equivalency and five (5) years progressive responsibilities within public utilities or general construction. Valid Washington State Driver’s license required.
