Schedule : General operating hours are Monday – Friday: 8 a.m. – 6 p.m. Start and end times may vary. Must be available to work until 8 p.m., two evenings per week to meet the various needs of the program.

Program :
SBCS’ Community Assessment Team (CAT) & Juvenile Diversion (JD) program works to keep kids in school and out of the Juvenile Justice System by providing early intervention/prevention to youth and families. Embedded in the Youth Prevention & Intervention (YPI) Team, the program provides an array of support services for first-time youth offenders, runaways, youth on Probation, and non-offenders and their families.
RESPONSIBILITIES : The Youth Prevention & Intervention (YPI) Clinician will be responsible for providing trauma-informed mental health services to YPI youth and families enrolled in CAT and/or Juvenile Diversion programs. Under the supervision of the Program Manager & Department Director, the Clinician is responsible for crisis intervention, stabilization, and providing individual and group therapeutic services to youth and their families. Services will be in keeping with agency goals, objectives, mission, and style and provided within a team framework The YPI Clinician is responsible for working with the team in developing team goals and objectives and in meeting those goals and objectives, including but not limited to:
DUTIES :
- Provide mental health assessments for identified youth, particularly those who may have experienced a mental health crisis and provide support to link family to appropriate mental health care.
- Develop treatment plans including goals and objectives, in collaboration with other and other program staff.
- Provide a range of culturally responsive, trauma-informed services to program clients that may include case management, individual and family counseling, group activities, wraparound services, and other services relative to program and team goals and objectives, including goals and objectives agreed upon with client.
- Participate in training and implement various evidence-based therapeutic models, such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Trauma Affect Regulation: Guide to Education and Therapy (TARGET), to fidelity.
- Participate in Multi-Disciplinary Team meetings with other YPI team members.
- Transport clients in a safe and secure manner in matters related to service delivery.
- Maintain case records and client files in the Efforts to Outcomes (ETO) database as required by SBCS and its funding sources.
- Maintain monthly statistical reports of services provided as required by SBCS.
- Outreach to target population to effectively reach those in need of services.
- Participation in special projects and activities, as related to agency’s goals and objectives.
- Identify Substance Use Disorder (SUD) treatment options for youth in need of higher-level of care.
- Provide crisis intervention services, and referrals to telephone and walk in persons.
- Participation and assistance in implementing program components.
- Attends all agency required meetings and training.
- As other duties assigned.
Requirements
- Master's degree in social work, psychology, or related degree with current BBS registration as LCSW, MFT, ASW, Associate LPCC or IMF.
- Minimum 2 years’ experience working directly with youth at-risk and their families providing behavioral health services, family mediation, and connecting youth and families to community and government resources.
- Experience in the areas of individual, group, and family counseling, gender-specific services, outreach, community education and development, advocacy and case management.
- Flexibility to provide clinical support at client’s homes, Achievement Center, or other locations accessible to clients.
- Knowledge and experience providing positive youth development and trauma-informed care and counseling.
- Ability to work with a diverse cultural population, possess cultural sensitivity, and maintain appropriate boundaries with clients.
- Adult role model with the ability to effectively set limits and function in crisis-oriented and high stress situations.
- Demonstrate initiative, resourcefulness, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work with confidential information.
- Ability to adequately observe participants’ activities and enforce safety regulations and apply appropriate policies and procedures.
Conditions of Employment
- Employment may be conditioned upon satisfactory completion of certain background clearances which may include a Department of Justice criminal background check requiring my fingerprints (Live Scan), screening through the National Sex Offender Public Website, Probation Clearances, drug test, tuberculosis (TB) test, and such additional clearances as may be required under the program.
- Candidates/employees who have received a conditional offer of employment will be required to undergo testing for controlled substances, (including THC and CBD), in accordance with the County of San Diego's drug and alcohol policy and the federal Controlled Substances Act.
- Candidate is required to have reliable transportation; therefore, the candidate must successfully complete a motor history check. Candidate must also possess and maintain a current valid California driver’s license and valid auto insurance policy. (Approximate 30% - 40% of the time.)
PHYSICAL DEMANDS :
- Mentally and emotionally: Ability to work under deadlines, various projects and dealing with clients in crisis and difficult situations.

- Ascending or descending stairs and ladders when applicable. Body agility is emphasized.
- Balancing: Maintaining body equilibrium to prevent falling when ascending, descending, traversing.
- Stooping: Bending body downward and forward by bending spine at the waist, requiring full use of the lower extremities and back muscles.
- Handling: Seizing, holding, grasping, turning, or otherwise working with objects or office machinery.
- Communicating: Expressing or exchanging ideas. Communicating is important for those activities in which workers must impart information to clients or to the public, and in those activities in which they must convey detailed or important instructions to other workers accurately, or quickly.
