Job Summary:

The Pediatric Float Pool nurse applies the nursing process to plan and implement the care of patients, including patient and family education and continuum of care planning. Effectively communicates pertinent patient/family information to the health care team. Collaborates in establishing patient goals and evaluates progress to ensure effective outcomes. Furthers professional growth by engaging in learning activities according to the Board of Nursing standards.

Relocation Terms:

Up to $10,000 (taxable) within 45 day of hire, based on geography. Must relocate from greater than 100 miles. The relocation bonus is not applicable to current VUMC staff or former staff who have worked for VUMC in the past one year.

Two years of RN experience highly preferred

Shift Requirements: Nights full-time (6:45pm-7:15am)

Department Summary:

Pediatric Float Pool nurses provide specialty services throughout Monroe Carell Jr. Children's Hospital, including acute care, critical care, emergency, and neonatal ICU. We orient new nurses to our department by creating pathways for them to learn the different areas that they may not be familiar with.

Our team supports the units of pediatric medicine, surgical services, cardiology, oncology/hematology, emergency, neonatal intensive care, and pediatric intensive care. Key Responsibilities:

• Collaborates in establishing the plan of care, coordinates and implements care delivery while anticipating patient care needs across the continuum.
• Analyzes comprehensive information pertinent to the patient's care and management to determine nursing diagnosis.
• Continually utilizes the nursing process to evaluate patient's progress towards goals and applies appropriate interventions to ensure effective outcomes.
• Employs strategies to promote health and a safe and healthy environment.
