My client is a fast-growing AI consultancy that embeds engineers directly into major enterprise clients to build and ship production AI systems. Not proof‑of‑concept theatre, real systems that go live inside Fortune 500 environments. They work with the leading frontier model providers and demand is outstripping how fast they can hire. The job You get dropped into a client, figure out their highest‑friction workflows, and build agentic systems that fix them. You own delivery end to end: scoping, architecture, building, shipping, and sitting with the people who use it. Some travel to client sites, roughly monthly. The rest is from their NYC office, 5 days a week. Who does well here Founding engineers, full stack generalists, ex‑CTOs whose startup didn't make it, and people who've done genuine forward deployed or embedded client work. You've shipped production systems end to end without a PM holding your hand, and you use agentic coding tools like Claude Code or Cursor as part of how you work every day, not as a party trick. Having built and shipped a production agentic system is the single biggest differentiator. 3+ years of professional software engineering minimum. Big tech backgrounds are welcome if you're demonstrably a builder rather than a coaster. Comp $180K guaranteed base plus an uncapped quarterly bonus tied directly to delivery output. Strong performers are earning well above the top of the advertised range. No equity, which is deliberate: the model pays cash now rather than paper later.
