ER Veterinary Technician (Relief) - Critical Care

BluePearl Pet Hospital, Charlestown, MA Relief Veterinary Technician – Emergency & Critical Care Pay $24.50 – $49.00 per hour, depending on experience and progression through our competency assessment tool. Candidates with VTS credentialing are eligible for compensation commensurate with experience. Shift Differentials Mon – Fri, 6 pm to 8 am: +$4.00 Sat & Sun, 8 am to 6 pm: +$4.00 Sat & Sun, 6 pm to 8 am: +$5.50 Responsibilities Induce, monitor, and recover anesthesia in patients and use anesthesia/monitoring equipment. Triage emergency cases as they arrive at the hospital, obtaining vitals such as temperature, heart rate, respiratory rate, and blood pressure. Perform digital radiography with proper technique and positioning of patients. Have a complete understanding of normal ranges for patient vital signs, including heart and respiratory rate, temperature, blood pressure, and oxygen saturation. Obtain and interpret blood pressure and other vital signs and alert the Veterinarian to changes and issues. Identify patients at risk for arrest and initiate CPR. Properly calculate medical math (including constant rate infusions) and administer medications via appropriate routes and durations. Proficiently perform phlebotomy and place intravenous catheters in all peripheral vessels. Place and maintain feeding tubes and central line catheters.
