Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Registered Nurse Specialty: Staff Augmentation Duration: 52 weeks Shift: Evening Hours per Shift: 2:15 PM - 6:15 PM Experience: Minimum years of experience required License: Current licensure as a registered professional nurse in the state of Ohio Certifications: None specified Must-Have: Knowledge of professional registered nursing procedures and state regulations Description: Provides professional nursing care to patients in a correctional facility. Observes, assesses, and records symptoms, reactions, and progress of patients. Makes nursing rounds and takes and records vital signs. Prepares and administers prescribed medications and treatment plans. Monitors patients under restraint on a timely basis. Provides immediate medical attention in emergencies. Counsels patients regarding the need for medical referrals. Schedules and reviews the work of lower-level staff as assigned. Participates in staff development and education. Reviews care plans written by staff and trains and orients new employees. Responsible for all health care of bedridden patients as assigned. Organizes and oversees emergency response teams. Acts as lead worker in charge of one assigned shift if necessary. Assists in giving diagnostic health evaluations to patients. Performs clerical tasks including documentation of medications and treatments. Maintains inventory of controlled substances and medical supplies. Arranges for medical examinations and prescription refills. Performs administrative tasks and attends meetings as required. Serves as an instructor and participates in problem-solving teams as needed. Works shifts, weekends, and holidays. May be exposed to communicable diseases.
