Faculty continuously engage in professional development while maintaining current expertise in the applicable content area and developing students through effective and innovative teaching and learning practices.Essential Job FunctionsDemonstrates specialized knowledge and maintains expertise in the theory, skills, and pedagogy of the applicable discipline or professionUses strategies and skills necessary to support student learning and prepares and delivers current and relevant course material in an understandable and motivating mannerUses strategies and skills necessary to support student learning and prepares and delivers current and relevant course material in an understandable and motivating mannerContinually assesses course objectives and instructional methods to improve teaching and learningUses formative and summative assessments of student learning within assigned courses to inform instruction and improve student attainment of course objectives and program outcomesEstablishes a student and advisor relationship that provides guidance with regard to program choices and career possibilities and supports student educational growth through guided decision makingSupports the university's outcomes initiatives by working to refine and revise course assignments and evaluation tools and leading or participating in data analysis discussions to make program and course improvementsFacilitates development and revision of programs and courses, assuring alignment within the program description and outcomes, course objectives and content, as well as university curriculum standardsAttends commencement, convocation, faculty meetings, department meetings, committee meetings, professional development programs, and other university events, as applicableSupports student enrollment and retention by participating in university events, advising student clubs and organizations, and assisting with admissions activitiesAdheres to and fulfills the responsibilities of all faculty members as outlined in the faculty manualPerforms other duties as assignedRequired QualificationsEarned doctorate in physical therapy from a CAPTE-accredited program or a bachelor's or master’s degree from a CAPTE-accredited program with an earned doctorate from a regionally accredited institutionFive or more years of clinical experience as a licensed physical therapistFive or more years of clinical experience treating patients with neurological or medically complex conditionsActive Rhode Island physical therapy license or eligibility to obtain such licensureExperience teaching DPT students (clinical instructor)Preferred QualificationsTerminal academic doctoral degree or a doctoral degree in physical therapyExperience teaching physical therapy education, preferably in a Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) programBoard certification as a Neurologic Clinical Specialist (NCS), Cardiovascular & Pulmonary Clinical Specialist (CCS), Oncology Clinical Specialist (OCS), or Wound Management certificationClinical experience in cardiopulmonary and/or integumentary practice areasExperience in clinical settings across the continuum of carePlease Note: Qualified candidates must live or relocate to live within a daily commuting distance of the Providence Campus location upon hire.Applications are accepted on an ongoing basis until job posting is closed.Johnson & Wales University is an equal opportunity employer.
