Job Description The first responsibility of the Maitre’d is to reconfirm all large groups for the shift. Once the final cover count is verified, the Maitre’d pre‑plans and organizes the seating layout for the evening. This ensures minimal wait times for guests while maximizing table turns and maintaining a smooth flow of service. Responsibilities Reservation book organization and confirmation – first thing Maitre’d does is to make sure all large groups are re‑confirmed, then pre‑calculate and organize the seating for the night to ensure a minimum waiting time for guests while maximizing table turns. Dining room dressing – prior to the staff meeting, the Maitre’d checks the room to ensure it is dressed 100 % (lights, music, table settings, candles, menus, centerpiece, etc.). Greet all guests 100 % – in charge of ensuring all guests are checked‑in, greeted and placed in the order of their reservation time or walk‑in, with assistance from the Maitre’d; train new Maitre’d as required. Seat all guests (100 %) – the only staff who decides where guests are seated at Vanderpump Cocktail Garden; if guests are waiting at the bar, the Maitre’d directs them and carries drinks to their tables if needed. Take drink orders – help the server in charge of drink orders to expedite service and table turnover, following the Sequence of Service. Take food orders – same as above, following the Sequence of Service. Bus tables – help servers clear dirty glassware and plates, wipe tables, and reset when needed to expedite table turning. Table set up – ensure tables are set up for the next guests waiting. Circulate the dining room and bond with guests – work the room throughout the night to service everyone to the Vanderpump standard. Food and drink service – whenever necessary, the Maitre’d serves food and drinks (refilling wine glasses, water, coffee). Deal with guest complaints – gather facts, inform the manager of the opportunity, and do not try to resolve the complaint personally. Special requests – communicate with servers and managers regarding birthdays, anniversaries, or special events. Approaching and seating the guest – find the group leader, evaluate guest(s) quickly, establish eye contact, and use proper handshake etiquette. Never leave the table empty – make a smooth transition with the server and ensure waiters meet you whenever possible. Drinks should be ordered within minutes. Introduce the server by name. Bonding – take time to build rapport during greeting and seating. Communicate positively and charmingly with the group, controlling body language. Maintain visibility for the entire front staff when taking guests to their tables. Project an attitude that this table is unique for the guests. Manipulate and control seating arrangement (women inside, host outside) – basic ABC etiquette. Transition from the Maitre’d to the waiters. Qualifications Relevant experience in a high‑quality, high‑volume operation preferred. Additional Requirements Must be able to stand for extended periods of time. Must be able to lift, pull, or push 25 lbs. Must be able to twist, bend, or reach with no significant boundaries. This position may be exposed to a smoke‑filled environment. Nevada health card.
