Senior Controller

RETS Associates on behalf of our client, an entrepreneurial and rapidly growing real estate investment and development platform, is seeking a Senior Controller in Scottsdale, AZ. The Sr. Controller will support accounting, financial reporting, and financial planning activities across a real estate portfolio that includes development projects, residential construction, and income-producing assets. Reporting to the VP of Accounting, this role will work closely with construction, leasing, and property management teams to ensure accurate reporting and support business operations. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, entrepreneurial, technically strong, and comfortable operating in a fast-paced environment where flexibility, initiative, and collaboration are essential. This is not a large corporate accounting environment. The successful candidate must be willing to roll up their sleeves and build alongside leadership. This person will be extremely organized, possess exceptional attention to detail, demonstrate a high level of accountability, and consistently deliver accurate work on time with no missed deadlines and will have a proven track record in real estate development accounting.

Requirements:

• 7–12+ years of real estate accounting experience with exposure to development & construction accounting
• Prior experience implementing and/or significantly enhancing Yardi is required
• Strong understanding of real estate development accounting, job cost tracking, construction draws, and project cash flows
• Experience supporting audits and institutional investor reporting
• Advanced Excel and financial reporting capabilities
• Familiarity with multifamily, retail, mixed-use, or commercial real estate assets preferred
• Experience working with entrepreneurial real estate firms or lean operating environments preferred
• Experience managing multiple entities, projects, and banking relationships preferred
