The Nuclear Medicine Technology (NMTEC) faculty performs duties and responsibilities under the general direction of the Associate Vice President of Academic Affairs and the Dean of the Health Sciences, Education & Wellness Institute (HSEWI). The primary program role filled by this faculty position is clinical coordinator of the NMTEC program. This role includes coordinating the clinical education of the NMTEC students as well as visiting students in their clinical placements in the Central Puget Sound region. In addition, the NMTEC Full-time Temporary Professor is the primary instructor for a number of the didactic courses in the nuclear medicine curriculum. Other responsibilities include establishing and assessing student learning outcomes; advising students; maintaining current knowledge and skills in area of assignment; building collaborative relationships with clinical sites, the BC community and the community at large; and demonstrating a strong commitment to student success and fostering a positive, caring learning environment where diversity and pluralism are valued.

This faculty position may include a joint appointment with the Radiation and Imaging Sciences (RAIS) bachelor degree program, with 25% of the full-time workload in RAIS. Currently, this means teaching two classes in the RAIS curriculum:

• RAIT 302 Body Pathophysiology
• RAIT 303 Neuropathophysiology

Depending on the expertise, the specific teaching assignments could change.

Position Salary Range: $84,209.79/year - $118,104.89/year

Annual salary is based on a 176-day contract with a minimum of $84,209.79; beginning salary will be determined by the assessment of the candidate's education and related experience. New hires start no higher than $90,293.65 unless exceptional circumstances prevail. Certain positions may also be eligible for assignment/project-based additional compensation, including a High Demand Stipend up to $8,350 annually, prorated based on the discipline and duration of the assignment. All additional compensations are subject to change depending on funding and negotiated agreement.

In addition to teaching, full-time faculty maintains office hours and participate in department and college activities. This position is represented by the Bellevue College Association of Higher Education (BCAHE) union.

The Nuclear Medicine Technology program is the only one of its kind in the state of Washington, educating technologists for both diagnostic imaging and radio nuclide therapy. The professional curriculum is covered over 6 quarters and includes both didactic and considerable clinical training. Almost all program graduates have gone on to pass credentialing exams and work in the field.

Plan, coordinate and schedule student clinical placements.

Work with student coordinators and clinical instructors to facilitate and evaluate student clinical performance in a timely manner.

Advise students in regard to their clinical internships, including communication, behavior, accomplishments relative to clinical course objectives, and advancement into the professional world of nuclear medicine technology.

Maintain relationship with clinical affiliates and build new partnerships and articulation agreements with other institutions/agencies such as health care organizations.

Teach courses as assigned by the program chair, utilizing a variety of teaching and learning strategies and innovative techniques including the integration of technology and the latest research to assist students in the achievement of learning outcomes and assessment of learning.

Promote teaching and learning in nuclear medicine in the classroom setting.

Assess student learning in the classroom and clinical settings and provide students with timely written and verbal feedback.

Regularly assess the effectiveness of didactic and clinical courses relative to stated course outcomes.

Serve as primary instructor for the radiopharmacy lab rotation of NMTEC 234.

Participate in curriculum revisions with the integration of the latest research aimed at continuous improvement and new course development.

Provide leadership for and work with the program's advisory board to engage in environmental scanning to update and revise curriculum, reflecting current needs in nuclear medicine technology education and needs of the community for health care in radiation and imaging sciences.

Participate in professional development activities related to teaching and learning theory, education in nuclear medicine technology and advances in nuclear medicine.

Maintain professional-technical and nuclear medicine certification.

Actively support student success and college pluralism/diversity goals/initiatives and activities, and integrate activities into the life and work of the nuclear medicine program and the radiation and imagining sciences department.

Certified nuclear medicine technologist with active credential (RT(NM) or CNMT).

Bachelor's degree from accredited institution.

Minimum two (2) years of working experience in nuclear medicine.

Demonstrated ability to connect and build relationships with diverse students and colleagues.

Demonstrated ability to teach in a diverse (multi-cultural, multi-ability) classroom and an advocate for pluralism.

Effective communication skills.

Credentialed in computed tomography (ARRT or NMTCB).

Master's degree from an accredited institution.

Five (5) years of working experience in nuclear medicine.

Ability to teach courses beyond nuclear medicine (e.g., Radiation and Imaging Sciences).
