Freelance Web Producer, CBS BostonCBS Stations is hiring a part-time digital producer to create compelling, relevant content for CBS Boston's digital platforms. This role is responsible for overseeing local digital breaking news coverage, writing and editing stories across a wide range of topics, clipping and optimizing video on CBSNews.com and on YouTube, and executing on growth initiatives across platforms.We are looking for someone with strong news judgment who can write and edit clear, accurate, fact-driven copy and craft compelling headlines on deadline in a fast-paced environment. Scrupulous attention to detail, a cool head under pressure, and excellent communication skills are essential.Your day-to-day:Coordinate, produce and update web coverage of news stories, gathering the latest information from a variety of sources, always being mindful of WBZ and CBS News standardsReact quickly to breaking news, writing and publishing articles and running live blogs as appropriateExecute content and headlines with SEO strategies in mindClip and optimize videos for CBSNews.com, YouTube and other platforms, writing compelling, SEO-friendly headlines and descriptionsManage the CBS Boston homepage to present the best of the journalism we produceWork with reporters and producers to publish the best of WBZ to our websiteProactively plan content around key news events and tentpolesTrack content performance and share content insights across WBZ to help inform story selection across platformsSend push alerts on breaking news, weather and other high-interest storiesWhat you bring to the team:1+ years of experience in a digital breaking news environment and a proven ability to react quickly as news developsA skilled writer who can produce quality copy on deadlineA deep understanding of SEO strategiesA knack for framing content in an engaging way for a digital audienceFamiliarity with analytics platforms like Google Analytics, Omniture, ChartbeatThrive in a collaborative team environmentCBS News and Stations brings together the power of CBS News, 28 owned television stations in 17 major U.S. markets, the CBS News Streaming Network, CBS News Streaming local platforms, local websites and cbsnews.com, under one umbrella.
